John J. and Effie E.(Hensley) Keely, 6 South 47 West

In 1880 Callaway County, Missouri, John J. is 8, with Isaac 40 and Margaret J. 35. Mary E. is 13, James M. 12, George P. 8, and William G. 4.

Margaret J. "Keeley" 1845-1883 is buried in Hams Prairie # 113240718, "wife of Ike Keeley."
So is Isaac "Ike" Keely 1835-1917 in another FindaGrave cemeter in Hams Prairie, # 61720440.
"Isaac Keel(e)y was married to Margaret Frey. He was a blacksmith. Isaac passed away at the age of 82 years, 7 months, and 13 days old due to general paralysis and old age. The informant of his death is listed as George P. Keely, McCredie, MO. Burial Date: August 16, 1917"

(1936 "Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Breid, a native of south Callaway, died this week at the Callaway hospital in Fulton. She had been in declining health for several years, and seriously ill for the last two or three weeks. She was taken to the hospital from her home in Fulton several days before her death. She was 69 years old. Mrs. Breid was born in the Ham's Prairie community and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Keely, pioneer residents of the southern part of the Kingdom. She lived the greater part of her life in that section of the county, moving to Fulton about 12 years ago.")

Isaac Keely was a blacksmith in Ham's Prairie, Missouri, six miles south of Fulton in Callaway County.

Effie Ethel Hensley was born February 27, 1880 in Osage County, Missouri to Winthrop H. Hensley and Sally A. Ferguson.

In 1900 Callaway County, John is a railroad station laborer, born August 1873 in Missouri, boarding with the J. W. and Rachel Amos family.
Also boarding with them is Effie Hensley, a servant. born February 1880 in MIssouri.

In 1909 Lacy and Tracy Keely are in the first grade at Waldo, McIntosh County, Oklahoma.;

October 1909 "On Wednesday the shriek of the siren at the ice plant called the attention of the people in Checotah that the fire fiend was again in our midst. The cause of alarm was the large cribs of the Davidson Elevator which had been fired by sparks from a passing train. Everything being dry as tinder the flames spread rapidly, and by the time the fire department reached the scene quite a fire was burning. The danger was very great for the Independent gin was across the street from tne cribs and this place was tilled with cotton and would burn rapidly if it caught. The fire department assisted by a number of volunteers worked man-fully for a long time before the fire was under control, saving the gin from getting on fire while they extinguished the cribs. The station- house occupied by Mr. Keeley the section foreman was on fire several times but the prompt action of Prof. Ledford who got on the roof of this building and by the aid of the bucket brigade drenched the roof and sides of the house, and remained to protect the building in spite of the intense heat."

John proved up two quarters in sections 22 and 27, 6 South, 47W in 1915

John Jacob Keely registered for WWI with a Stratton Colorado address, farming, born August 1, 1873, with Effie E. Keely.

In 1920 Kit Carson County, John J. 46, Effie E. 39, Lacy L. 17, Terry 17, Gladys G. 15, Harry 14, all born in Missouri, John J. 12 and Margaret M. 10 in Oklahoma, Rudy R. 9, Pearl C. 7, Alfred A. 6, and Beulah 3 born in Colorado.

June 1929 Jefferson City, Missouri, "Goldena Keely camse Sunday to spend the vacation with her parents, Mr.a nd Mrs. J. J. Keely."

In 1930 they're back in Callaway County, where John is a section foreman for the railroad. Lay is 28, Pearl 17, Raymond 19 - no occupations. Harry 23 and Johnnie 22 are contractors. Dean Sanford 3 is an orphan born in Illinois.

In 1940 Callaway County, John and Effie have only Clinton D. Sandford, 13.

Claus E. Rose 31, married Goldie "Keeley" on April 4, 1930 in Vona, Kit Carson County. Goldie Rose 36, is in Alamosa, Colorado in 1940, with Claus 40, Robert 9, Bonnie 8, and Donald 6. All were in Stratton Colorado in 1935.

Claus was in Kit Carson County in 1930, 30, married but no spouse, living with parents Elso 60 and Sophie 59.

Harry Hensley Keely 1905-1992 is buried in St. Charles Missouri # 151139078
"Among the survivors are his wife, Evelyn, three sons Harry Keely Jr. and Gary Lon Keely both of St. Charles and Richard Ray of St. Peters.
Four brothers, Tracy and Ray both of St. Louis, Pearl of Greeley, Colorado, and Dean of St. Peters.
Two sisters, Margaret Benefield and Beulah White, both of St. Charles.


Harry Skeet Keely, Jr. 84, of Rocky Mount, Missouri passed away Friday, July 1, 2016 at his residence in Rocky Mount, Missouri. He was born March 23 1932 in Boonville, Missouri, the son of the late Harry Hensley Keely, Sr. and Evelyn (Corbett) Keely.
On January 29, 1955 in St. Louis, Missouri he was united in marriage to Jeanette I. (Mullen) Keely who preceded him in death on February 16, 2010.
Survivors, daughters, Sheree Keely of Rocky Mount, MO; Stacy Elsbury (Neil) of Columbia, MO; four grandchildren, Josh Schoenrock, Keely, Faith and Trenton Elsbury; one great-grandchild, Landyn Schoenrock; brothers, Gary Keely (Mary Lou) of St. Charles, MO; Richard Keely of St. Charles, MO; sister-in-law, Nina Kampmann of Rocky Mount, MO; several nieces and nephews.
Harry was a member of the First Christian Church of Eldon, MO. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the local Teamsters in St. Louis, MO. He was employed as a truck driver for thirty-six years.

John J. Keely 1907-1969 is buried in Callaway County # 97142817, with Eunice M. 1911-1999.

Margaret Mae Keely was born May 30, 1912 at Checotah, Oklahoma, and died July 30, 2004 as Margaret Benefield.
"Margaret Benefield, St. Charles, MO, July 30, 2004, age 95. Beloved wife of the late Charles Benefield; loving mother of John (Gloris) Benefield, Douglas (Janice) Benefield, Charla (Ben) Nothstine, Randy (Karen) Benefield and the late Grant Benefield; dear sister of Dean (Bonnie) Keely; preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters; grandmother of 15, great grandmother of 24 and great great grandmother of 1."

In 1938 St. Charles, Misouri, Raymond R. (Gwendolyn) is running a sandwich shop, living at 419 N. 2nd.

John J. (Effie) Keely is a section foreman, living at 2003 N. Main.

Harry H. Keely (Evelyn) also live at 2003 N. Main.
Pearl and Leva Keely live at 1218 N. 2nd - he's a mail manager.

In 1940 St. Charles County, Missouri, Raymond Keely is 29, married but no spouse, born in Colorado, and his mother-in-law Josephine Thomas 59 born in Missouri is with him. He was in Kit Carson County in 1935.
Josephine, widow of H.G. Thomas, was living at 219 N. 2nd, same address at Raymond, in 1938 St. Charles.

Raymond R. Keely 1910-1994 is buried in St. Charles County # 151138767, with Gwendolyn (Thomas) Keely 1913-2000

Alfred Amos Keely, born December 31, 1913 at Stratton, Colorado, died March 14, 1948 at Tebbetts, Callaway Coumty.
"Opal Keely Sitton, 83, Jefferson City, died Nov. 1, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center. She was born April 7, 1916, in Steedman, a daughter of Willard and Callie Kemp Beatty. She was married Jan. 4, 1930, in Mokane, to Alfred A. Keely, who died in 1948. She was married Dec. 1, 1950, in Mokane, to Vance Sitton, who survives at the home.

"Harold D. Keely, 81, Centralia, Mo., passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011, at his home. Harold was born March 10, 1930, in Mokane, Mo., the son of the late Alfred and Opal (Beatty) Keely. On January 27, 1952, he was united in marriage to Anita Krebs. Harold served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked as a Senior Process Analyst for A.B. Chance Co. until his retirement on March 1, 1995."
