In 1895 Labette County, Kansas, L. H. Herrell is 46, L. R. 46, O. 21, H. 19, May 18, L. 11, Lena 9, Claude 7, and Guss 5.

In 1900 Labette County, Kansas, Louis H. Herrell born July 1848 in Missouri is farming, married 35 years to Lydia Aug 1898 Indiana. Lola July 1883, Lena L. Feb 1886, Claud C. April 1888, an Guss H. March 1890 all born in Missouri.

In 1910 Tillman County, Oklahoma, Louis W. Herrell is farming, 62, born in Missouri, Lydia 62 in Indiana. They've been married 44 years, with eight of twelve kids living. Lena L. is a school teacher, 24, Claude C. 22, and Guss H. 20 neither with occupations, all three born in Missouri.

Lena Lee Herrell, 24, married Frank B. Little in Tillman County October 19, 1910.
Frank is a mail carrier in 1920 Colorado Springs, and in 1930 he's still a mail carrier, in Ada County, Idaho.
Frank is 43, Lena 44, Herrell E. 19, Frank B. 13, Lois L. 5, Joyce E. seven months, and Phyllis F. Herrell 8 is living with them - Claude's daughter.


Guss claimed two quarters in 28, 6 South, 47W in 1917.

In 1920, Louis and Lydia, both 71 are in Kit Carson County, and Guss H. 29 is living with them.

On the same page is Claude 31, with Clara L. 31 both born in Missouri. Leslie C. 7 in Oklahoma, Howard H. 3, Maxine L. 2, and Loriene M. 1 botn in Colorado.

Louis and Lydia Herrell are along in 1930 Tillman County, Oklahoma, both 81.

Lewis 1848-1933 # 60376309 "Son of Emerson Herrell. Confederate Veteran" and Lydia R. Herrell 1848-1933 # 103113318 are buried in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Lydia was also known as Rebecca Doane Herrell - their son Charles Ellis Herrell 1876-1956 is buried in Tacoma, Wshington # 97677150.

GUSS

Guss married Helen Swing on April 12, 1921 in Colorado Springs.

In 1930 Kit Carson County, Guss is 40, with Helene 29 born in Kansas. Floy L. 8 and Robert G. 2 were born in Colorado. They must be doing well, because Emma Zabrod 18 is a a servant.

In 1940 Kit Carson County, Guss is running a general store, 50, Helen 40, Floy 18 teaching school, Robert G. 12, and Virginia L. 9.

Guss H. Herrell 1890-1966 is buried in Vona, # 95333683, with Helen T. Herrell 1900-1984 # 95350235.

Virginia Herrell, born about 1931, married Arthur Tubbs in Kit Carson County March 11, 1949.

Robert Gene Herrell, born October 1, 1927 at Seibert to Guss H. Herrell and Helen T. Swings, died May 13, 1990.
He was a dentist in Burlington, and moved to La Junta in 1960 when Dr. Herrell set up a dental practice on south San Juan Avenue.

He's buried in La Junta, Colorado # 31678328.

Floy Lucille (Herrell) Becker 1921, 2004 is buried in Vona, Colorado # 29863340
"Former Vona, CO resident, Floy Lucile Herrell Becker passed away November 21, 2004 in Colorado Springs, CO. She was 83 years old. Floy was born October 7, 1921 in Vona, CO to Guss H. and Helen T. (Swing) Herrell. She was one of three children born to this family. Floy graduated from the Vona High School and then went on to complete two years of college. She worked as a secretary for her own business. On October 3, 1953, Floy married Abraham A. Becker, better known as "A.A." or "Beck" in Denver, CO. To complete their family, Floy and Beck adopted Michelle.
Floy enjoyed spending her time traveling and reading, and she really loved to cook and garden.
Preceding Floy in death were her parents and one brother, Robert Herrell. She is survived by her husband, Beck; her daughter, Michelle Becker; and one sister, Virginia Tubbs, all of Colorado Springs, CO.
Abraham A. "Beck" Becker age 89, of Colorado Springs, passed away August 5, 2008. Beck was born January 3, 1919 in Vona, CO to Andrew and Katherina (Schultz) Becker. He was the youngest of twelve children born to this union. Beck graduated from Vona High School in 1936. Following high school he joined the United States Army Air Core and served during World War II. Returning home form the war Beck attended Denver University graduating in 1952 with a degree in Accounting. On October 3, 1953, Beck married Floy Herrell in Denver, CO. To complete their family, Beck and Floy adopted Michelle. Beck enjoyed traveling with Floy in their travel club. He also loved cars, telling jokes, golfing and all sports. He was a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity. Beck was preceded in death by his parents, wife and all of his siblings. Beck in survived by his daughter Michelle Becker of Colorado Springs, CO. Also surviving are sister-in-laws Virginia Tubbs of Colorado Springs, CO, Alma Becker of Ft. Collins, CO, Neva Herrell of La Junta, CO and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Graveside service will be held Saturday, August 9, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Vona Cemetery in Vona, CO with Rev. Kim Herrell, officiating. Colorado Springs July 27, 1973
Linda Kay Hammond and Terry B. Tubbs were married recently at the Ivywild United Presbyterian Church. The Rev. James T. Snooke officiated at the double-ring rites. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. P. “Dutch” Hammond, 2004 S. Corona St. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wayne Tubbs, 1510 Auburn Drive. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of mira mist and rose motif lace with fitted bodice and natural waistline, high neck and bishop sleeves. The hoop skirt was designed in a redingote style with alternating tiers of lace and mira mist trimmed with lace. Her headpiece was a chapel-length mantilla made of the same rose motif lace. Honor attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Alan Tubbs, Colorado Springs. Other attendants included Miss Joyce Gatiss, Miss Cindy Gatiss, and Jim Herrell. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Dotts Restaurant. After a wedding trip to Buena Vista and other mountain regions, the couple is at home in Colorado Springs where Tubbs is employed bv Berwick Electric Company."


April 18, 1971 Colorado Springs "Miss Sandra Lee Moehring and Alan Wayne Tubbs were united in an afternoon nuptial ceremony April 3 at Salem Baptist Church. "



CLAUDE
In 1910 Tillman County, Oklahoma, Clara Redaker is 21, with Henry 47 and Carrie 46. Eliza is 23, Clara 21, Lola 19,Westlley is 12, and Edna 10, all born in Missouri.

J.H. Redeker died in April 1950, buried in Tillman County # 114472966.
Caroline 1864-1939 is also buried there # 103803058.

Claude and Clara married on November 3, 1910 in Tillman County.

Claude proved up 296 acres in 30, 6S 47W and 25, 6S 48W in 1917.

Clara Lena (Redeker) Herrell, 1888-1927 is buried in Tacoma # 62768286 - daughter of John H. Rederker and Caroline Giese.

In 1930 Twin Falls County, Idaho, Claude C. is 42, Howard W. 14, and Lester C. 18.

In 1940 Paonia, Colorado, Claude C. is 53, Howard H. 24, and Dorothy Jean 16. - all three in Tillman Oklahoma in 1935.
Claude Cleavland Herrell registered for WWII in Paonia, born April 1, 1888 at Carthage, Missouri, with no reference, and no occupation.

Claude C. Herrell 1889-1943 is buried in Clifton, Greenlee County, Arizona 3 88652021.

He was killed in an truck accident at an industrial place. (The Yuma Pioneer reported it was a mine)
The informant, Howard Herrell, said his parents were Mike Herrell and Rebecvca Loveless, both of Missouri.

George W. Sheard died in Joes December 25, 1935

January 1939 "A wedding took place January 8, in Vona in which Robert Sheard and Miss Lorene Herrell were the contrating parties."

July 25, 1940 "Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sheard are enjoying a visit with her father, Claude Herrell of teh western slope. He is suffering from a broken arm."

July 1941 "Mrs. Robert Sheard is enjoying a visit with her sister, Dorothy Herrell, of Paonia, while her father is in the Kansas harvest fields."

February 11, 1943 "We are sorry to report the death of the year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sheard on Sunday eveining. LIttle Forrest had been ailing but a short time with a cold which caused his death. He was taken to the Yuma hospital Sunday afternoon. Funeral services were held here (Kirk, likely) Wednesday at 2 o'clock and interment was at the Yuma cemetery."

1953 Yuma "The Robert Sheard familly of Lawrence Kansas, spent the weekend visiting friends in this region."
Lawrence Kansas

Robert Sheard, 81, died Sept. 28, 2000, at the KU Medical Center. He was a landscape engineer for KU from 1951 until he retired in 1981. He married Laurene M. Harrell in 1939. She survives of the home. A son, Forest E. Sheard, died in 1943. Other survivors include a daughter, Sharon Cobb, Lawrence; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Sarcoxie Fire Department, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

November 21, 1929 "We understand that Marie Sheard was married Sunday to a Mr. Pixler of BUrr Oak, Kansas. The young couple left Joes on that date and we have not learned their future plans."
1943 "Mrs. Marie Pixler of Denver was here a few days last week to attned the funeral of the small son of her cousin< Robert Sheard. She returned to her work in Denver Friday."

Robert's sister Vida Marie (Sheard) Caron 1905-1995 is buried in Yuma -


LaVern James Pixler was born November 13, 1905, to Jacob and Patsy Pixler at Burr Oak, Kansas, and passed away October 31, 1970 at the age of 64 years, 11 months and 14 days. He died suddenly of a heart attack while at work. He lived all his life in Burr Oak, Kansas.

He was married to Marie Sheard in 1929.

He had eight children: Marion, Veda, Olive, Doyle, Patricia, Eugene, Junior, and Neta. Mr. Pixler was preceded in death by his mother, father, four brothers, and two sisters.

He is survived by five sisters, Florene Baylie, Edith Hill, Ethel Siebert, Florence Valeka, and Gladys Applebee; one brother, Delbert Pixler; 22 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral Services were held November 3, 1970, at the Kramer Funeral Home in Mankato, Kansas, with the Rev. David Wilson officiating. Burial was in the Burr Oak Cemetery. Phyllis Herrell was born March 24, 1922 at Vona to Claude Herrell and Clara Redeker, name of Weeks in 1943 and as Shreves in 1970.
Phyllis Fern Weeks, 28, married Merle W. Shreves on March 27, 1950 in Sutter County, Califronia.
She died April 7, 1994 in Bowie County, Texas.

Maxine Lydia Herrell was born June 2, 1917 at Vona, name of Conger in 1938. Dying March 16, 1990.
Maxine Herrell married Raymond Conger in Kit Carson County on October 3, 1936.

In 1940 Sutter County, California, Maxine is 23, born in Colorado, with John 22 born in Iowa. BOth were in Kit carson COunty in 1935. Joan C. 2 was born in California. She's buried in Sutter, California 1917-1990 # 135120859, with John A. Conger 1911-1986.

Lottie Louise Herrell was born June 1, 1920 at Vona, as Crawford in 1941, dying March , 2002.
She married Forrest K. Crawford on June 20, 1938 in Hotchkiss, Delta County, Colorado about ten miles from Paonia.


Lester C. Herrell 1911-1979 is buried in Santa Rosa, California, # 141384542, with Gail E. 1904-1983.
