Andrews and that he would retire June 1, winding up over thirty years in the publishing business. In his column "What the Editor Thinks" Sagaser had this to say We have sold the Atlanta Express to Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Andrews, Jr. Mrs. Andrews is our daughter, better known to her friends here as "Sammy." The Andrews' will take possession June 1. So this winds up thirty years and eight month for us as the publishers. Our association with the people here has been a long, pleasant experience. But we feel that we have served our time and that it is well to retire and ease up some. Competent help is difficult to obtain and the gait is getting too fast for us. Last year was the greatest business year we have experienced since we entered the newspaper work here in September 1923. And the first five months this year shows a ten per cent increase over the same period last year. We extend our sincere thanks to all of you wonderful folk who have made this possible. We are so glad that our daughter and her husband are the purchasers. The paper is like a member of the family. To us, it would have been tragic to have surrendered it to a total stranger. Mr. and Mrs. Andrews lived in Los Angeles before coming here and making arrangements to take over the Express. Both were employed by the Douglas Aircraft Corporation. Mrs. Andrews is a former employee of this paper where she acquired her early experience in newspaper work. Then later she was a member of the staff of the Dally Courier in Alamosa, Colo. We feel sure you will continue to stand by the paper under the new management. Warmest regards and best wishes to all our friends, readers and advertisers. Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Sagaser."
