Kit Carson County Pioneers:

Truman Smith, 6 South 46 West

Truman claimed two quarters in section 17, 6S 46W in 1917.

Possibly he's the Artemus D. Smith, brother of Sylvetus, who claimed land about three miles away, also in 1917. Artemus in 1900 was in Cass County, Iowa, 33, with Sarah A. 31, CHeste S.8, Mary G. 6, Don A. 5, Gladis L.3, Wayne A. 1, and Estes C. Smith 21.

In 1910 Weld County, Colorado, Artemus is 43, married 20 years to "Smith" 41, with Chester 18, May 16, John 15, Gladys 13, Wayne 11, Edith B. 9, all these kids born in Iowa, Mabel M. 6 and Frank C. 3 in Kansas. So they moved around a lot.

Artemis and Sarah are back in Cass County, Iowa in 1920, with Wayne 20, Edith 18, Mabel 16 and Frank C. 12.

A. Dwight Smith 1867-1952 is buried in Cass County, # 86901256, with Sarah Jane (Allen) Smith 1869-1954 # 86901428.
