Frank Vern Nelson was born June 15, 1882 in Iowa to Francis M. Nelson and Martha E. Owen.

He might be the Frank Vern Nelson, born 1882 at Keokuk County, Iowa, marrying Elda Fern Perdue in November 1917, and was in Dundy County, Nebraska registering for WWI, nearest relative Fern Nelson of Duncy County.

Mary A. Hignett, age 18, daughter of Elijah Hignett and Elizabeth Porter, married C. P. Nelson on June 26, 1881 in Sac County, Iowa.

"Ellen" F. Perdue is in Red Willow County, Nebraska in 1910, 10, with James E. 59 and Quincey C. 49. Louis is 24, Elise M. 21, and Ruby A. 17.

In 1930 Red Willow County, Nebraska, Frank is a railroad laborer, 46, with Elda F. 30, married 12 years. Ethel 11, James W. 9, Alma 7, and Cecil F. 1 were born in Nebraska.

They're in Ada County, Idano, in 1940, Frank a farm laborer. James 19, Alma 17, adn Cecil 11 are with them. So is Ethel M. Newcomb , 21, with her kids Barbara J. 2 and Richard F. 1, both born in Nebraska.

Fern daughter of James Edward and Quincy Ellen Wright Perdue; she married (1) Frank V. Nelson-deceased 20 Feb 1953; (2) Al Coonse-deceased 27 Dec 1966.

"The daughter of James Edward Perdue and Quincy Ellen (Wright) Perdue. Married Frank Vern Nelson in November 1917 in Cambridge, Furnas County, Nebraska. Married a second time to Alfred Coonse on December 23, 1958 in Murphy, Owyhee County, Idaho. She always went by "Fern" because she did not like Elda for a name. She never considered herself old. Fern was a very independent and strong willed person. She love to garden and spend time outdoors.
Fern was the mother of two sons: James and Cecil and two daughters: Ethel and Fay. "


Ethel is also in the Furnas County, Nebraska 1940 census, 21, married to Dorrance Newcomb 34. Barbara J. is 2, Richard L. 1.

Dorence Frank Newcomb married Ethel Irene Nelson in Boise Idaho December 16, 1935.
Ethel # 171338378 is buried in Boise "The daughter of Frank and Elda Fern (Perdue) Nelson. She was born in Hiawatha, Nebraska on February 04, 1919. She married Dorence Newcomb and was the mother of five children: Barbara, Richard, Carolyn, Bonnie and Linda. She work as a waitress at many establishments in Boise. Ethel enjoyed crocheting and sewing. The funeral service will be held at Alden-Waggner Funeral Chapel on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 11:00 am.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister, as well as three grandsons, and two sons-in-law.

NOTE: The town of Hiawatha, Nebraska is a ghost town, now, in Dundy County. A post office was established in Hiawatha in 1889 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1933. "


Fay Nelson Boucher is also buried in Boise "Fay was born on August 10, 1922 in Bartley, Nebraska. Fay loved to cook and always provided large meals to all visitors. She was an avid traveler making many trips to Washington DC, touring Alaska, Houston, Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Montana and Canada. At the age of 86 she was still very self sufficient cutting six cords of wood with an axe and wedge, and taking care of her own yard. Fay loved getting out and walking around town. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren attending all the major events of their lives.
She is survived by two sons, Stanley (Kathy) Stevens and Sid Stevens, two daughters, Sharon Ragland and Suzanne Rice, eight grandchildren, Major Robert Rice, MD, Steven Rice, Patrick Rice Victoria Bright, Dusty Stevens, Clay Stevens, JW Travis Stevens, and Tonya Haun, twelve great grandchildren, Mason Rice, Baby Rice, Savannah Bright, Bailie Bright, Laryssa Stevens, Leiland Stevens, Tiyana Stevens, Clay Stevens Jr., Blake Stevens, Brannan Stevens, Ryan Haun, Tyler Haun a sister Ethel Newcomb and many nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly.
Fay was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Fern Nelson, two brothers James and Cecil Nelson. "
