Gertrude H. Bryson, age 21, married J. J. Vrooman, age 44, both of Union, Kansas, in Osage County, Kansas on December 12, 1900 - she was 21.

Joseph R. Bryson 1838-1908 is buried in Osage County, with Mary C. 1840-1935 # 57525039.

In 1910 Douglas County, Kansas, Jesse J. Vrooman is farming, 44 born in Utah, Gertie H. 31 in Kansas, with Harold S. 7, Leola M. 5, Anna A. 2, and William twelve months.

In 1902 Lawrence, Kansas, L.E. Miles lives on a rural route (Mrs. Cora A.). Lewis and Cora are in Wabaunesee County, Kansas, in 1910, Lewis 43, born in Kansas, Cora 45 in Kansas, with Joe 15, Leona 13, Margaret 11, Samuel 9, Alta 5, and Ruth 3, all born in Kansas.

In 1905 Leavenworth, Kansas, Louis E. Miles is 38, Cora A. 40, Greta F. 12, Joseph U. 10, Leona E. 8, Margaret A. 6, Samuel 4, and Alta five months.

1906 Lawrence, Kansas "Mr. and Mrs. Louis Miles of the Mound neighborhood visited Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Miles."

November 1906 " Louis Miles was in the neighborhood Wednesday delivering meat."

Cora Scott Miles 1864-1911 is buried in Wabaunsee County, Kansas # 109704598.

November 1912 El Dorado, Kansas "Sion Stevenson calls attention to the plight of J. J. Vrooman, an aged man who is ill at his rooming house on North Main street, and desirous of obtaining funds which will enable him to reach relatives in Pasadena, Calif. Vrooman came to El Dorado about three months ago, worked on the street paving gang for a while, then got a job on Jas. Leedy's farm. About two weeks ago he stumbled over a footscraper, breaking a kneecap and injuring his hand. "He is hurt so badly he cannot even dress himself," Stevenson says. "I have been letting him stay at my place as he ran out of money. I believe his case is worthy of help.""

Louis Edward Miles married Gertie Bryson Vrooman at Tuttle, Colorado on October 1, 1915.

Gertie claimed a quarter in section 21, 6S 46W in 1919.
Louis E. Miles claimed two quarters in section 20, 6S 46W in 1917.

"Miles, L. E., Farmer, S. 21, T. 6, R. 46, P. O. Kirk. Mr. Miles was born in Iowa in 1866, settled in the County in 1913, and married Gertie Vrooman."


In 1920 Kit Carson County, Louis F. Miles is 56 born in Germany, Gertie H. Miles 40 born in Kansas, with Louis' daughter Ruth 13 born in Kansas, Lorene M. 2 and Nena M. two months - their kids together, then Gertie's daughters Mary Leola Vrooman 14 and Amy V. Vrooman 11 both born in Kansas.

In 1930 Douglas County, Kansas, Lorene Miles is 13, born in Colorado, with Louis 63 - who says he was born in Iowa.

One descendant wrote

One tree said Gertrude died in 1942 in California - if anyone has information as to her census records for 1930 and 1940, please let us know.


JOSEPH

Joseph 1894-1983 is buried in Whittier, California
"Joseph Hugh Miles was born in Leavenworth Co., Kansas, the son of Lewis or Louis E. Miles and Cora A. Scott. Apparently his mother Cora died by about 1916, and Louis E. Miles remarried Gertie H. ____ (widow Vrooman). They moved to Colorado.
Joe married his first wife, Naoma May Rash, 14 Sep 1913. The census taken in Jan 1920 shows Joe, a machinist, living in Ogden Utah with his first wife and two children, Josephine and Joseph Cecil. They had one more child, Lloyd Chester, born in Feb 1920, then Joe and Naoma were divorced.
Joe married Lorena LUMPKIN 7 Sep 1926, and they had three children together: Lorena Marie, Erma Darlene, and Norman Lee. In the 1930 census they were living in Montebello Township, Los Angeles Co., California."

DOROTHY / BETTY

Dorothy Miles was born October 19, 1919 at Stratton to Lewis Miles and Gertrude H. Bryson, as Schell in 1940, Rose in 1946, and dying February 15, 1993.
She was in Hermiston, Oregon in 1940, 20, with Ed Schell 35 born in Montana. Edward is 6, Jaems Leon 4, and Robert Leroy 2.

Betty Vearl Vrooman, age 24, born in Kansas, a waitress , father Jesse Vrooman of Utah and mother Gertrude Bryson of Kansas, married Edward Francis Sack 30 born in Kansas, on May 11, 1932 in Oakland, California.

In 1940 Humboldt County, California, William Potter is 38, Betty 31 born in Kansas - she does laundry, he has no occupation.
She died as Betty Vearl Potter on January 12, 1982 in Humboldt County.

LAURA

"My grandmother was Laura Mahala Vrooman, and info I have says she was born in Overbrook, Kansas around 1910/11(?). She married Harry Kyle Cooper in California Laura's marriage certificate shows her parents as Jessie J. Vrooman, born in Utah, and Gertrude Bryson, born in Kansas. Laura was 16 when she married in Jan. of 1927."

"HARRY KYLE COOPER married LAURA MAHALA VROOMAN on January 25, 1927 in Santa Ana, CA. From this marriage there were 2 children. EDDIE COOPER birthdate unknown and CATHERINE AMELIA COOPER born 1-13-1932 in Canton, OH. HARRY and LAURA were divorced shortly after the birth of CATHERINE. HARRY later married KAY KURFISS and had another daughter PATTI COOPER. "

Leola Vrooman married Ovel Orse Bailey on December 21, 1922, recorded in Kit Carson County.
In 1930 Kit Carson County, Leola M. Bailey is 24, first married at 17, with Florence L. 6, James > 6, Helen R. 3, and Bessie M. 2.

In 1940 O. O. is working on roads in Limon, Colorado, 42 born in Missouri, with Leola M. 39, James 15 Helen 13, Bessie Mae 12, Betty Jean 9, Pearl E. 7, Rose Marie 3 and Bonnie Jo 1.

O.O. Bailey 1897-1966 is buried in Flagler, Colorado # 13990253.

Ovel had been in Missouri in 1900, with parents David and Annie, but David died in 1903, and in 1910 he's in Kit Carson County, Orse B. 12 born in Missouri, with Charles D. Brewer 37 born in West Virginia, married five years to Annie A. 33 - her second marrieage. Louisa M. is 9, Laurie E. 7 and Rosey N. 4.

Ovel Orse Bailey registered for WWI in Nodaway County, Missouri, born Sept 19, 1897, nearest relative Annie Brewer mother of Flagler, COlorado.

Lawson James Bailey, 52, of Rt. 1, Monroe, a resident of Jasper County for 18 years, died Saturday evening at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral home in Newton. Elder Arthur Nichols of Knoxville conducted services. Burial was in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Survivors are his wife, Margaret; a son, Robert Marshall of Fairfield; two daughters, Mrs. James (Mary) Henning of Rt. 3, Newton and Mrs. Bill (Karen) Samuelson of Newton; his mother, Mrs. Leola Bailey of Limon, Colo.; and eight grandchildren. Also surviving are seven sisters, Mrs. Roy (Helen Gilkey of Smithwick, S.D., Mrs. Don (Mae) Chancellor of Prescott, Ariz., Mrs. Merrill (Betty) Paulson of Limon, Colo.; Mrs. Dwight (Peg) Tritt of Sidney, Neb., Mrs. Pearl Beville of Fort Collins, Colo.; Mrs. Roy (Bonnie) Riley of Truth or Consequences, N.M., and Mrs. Jack (Rose) Kavanaugh of Houston, Tex.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Winifred.
Mr. Bailey, a member of United Auto Workers, Local 997 of Newton, retired from the Winpower Co. in Newton in 1974.
The son of Oris and Leola Bailey, he was born Jan. 25, 1925 in Colorado He was married to Margaret Koder April 16, 1960 in Bethany, Mo.

In 1938 "Miss Alma Vrooman, Kiowa County" appeared in a session of Colorado county school superintendents.

This isn't a close relative - her husband Walter died April 14, 1930
December 23, 1930 Greeley "Scott L. Vrooman, 75 years old, a resident of Greeley for 33 years, died Monday at his home, 828 Fifth street. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock on Friday afternoon from Macy's; interment at Linn Grove. Mr. Vrooman was born in Ashland, N. Y., Feb. 20, 1855, and was married to Millie S. Toomer on Feb. 15, 1882. They lived in Roxbury, N. Y., until moving to Greeley 33 years ago. Mr. Vrooman is survived by his widow, Mrs. Millie S. Vrooman, by a daughter Mrs. Paul Briggs of Greeley, a son, Edward A. Vrooman of Columbus, 0., and by 12 grandchildren.
He has also a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Alma Vrooman of Eads; his son, Howard Vrooman, died April 14 of this year.
Of a family of seven children, Mr. Vrooman is survived now by only one brother, Rev. Chauncey C. Vrooman of Greene, N. Y."
