Ernst Wilhelm and Hilda (Beckman) Lucas, 6 South 46 West




Wilhelm Lucas, age 23, arrived in Baltimore in 1907, headed for Holbrook, Nebraska to his cousin Gottleib. He was coming from M?ittelsoman, Germany.

(In 1900 Gosper County, Henry is 49, Johanna 49, both born in Germany. She's had eight kids, two living Those might be Gotleib, age 9 in the 1885 Gosper County, census, and Mary age 8. Henry G. Lucas 1850-1941 is buried in Gosper County # 36359984, with Johanna M. 1842-1932.)
So Henry is likely an uncle.

In 1910 Furnas County, Nebraska William Lucas is 26, born in Germany, a laborer for the Paul H. Teiring family. He immigrated in 1907, and was registered as a permanent alien.


Hilda Matilda Lucas was born September 10, 1896 at Phillipsburg, Kansas to Wilhelm F. Beckaman and Christine Riensche.

In 1920 she's in Phillips County, Kansas, 23, no occupation, with parents William 65 born in Iowa and Christena 61 in Indiana. Brother Carl is 19.

Ernst claimed two quarters in section 32, 6S 46W in 1917.

He registered for WWI in Kit Carson County, with a Stratton address, born January 20, 1884, farming. His nearest relative was Henry Lucas of Holbrook, Gosper County, Nebraska.

In 1920 Kit Carson County, Earnest is still single, farming alone, 35, born in Germany. His immigration year was unknown.

In 1930 Kit Carson County, "William" is 46, born in Germany, with Hilda 33 in Kansas. Ernst 8 and Della 5 were born in Kansas, Emma 3 and Lucille ten monts were born in Colorado.
This census said he arrived in 1907.

In 1940 Kit Carson County, Wilhelm 52 and Hilda 43 have Earnest 18, Della 15, Emma 13, Lucille 10, and Leon 5.

February 25, 1965 "Mr. and Mrs. Loren Monroe and daughter recently moved to the William Lucas farm north of Strratton."

Ernst William Lucas, Jr. 1921-1945 is buried in Golden Gate # 1125359 "Colorado - Coxswain U.S. Navy World War II"
December 20, 1945 "Word of the death of Ernest William Lucas, Jr., comes as a shock to Burlington and Stratton friends. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lucas of Stratton, a coxswain in the navy. He met death Dec. 7 by drowning while in the service of his country, according to a telegram received by his parents last week. The last they had heard from him he was at Pearl Harbor, and burial details had not yet been forwarded to them."

Della Marie Lucas, longtime resident of Stratton, was born on May 14, 1924 in Phillipsburg, Kansas. She was the second of five children born to Ernest Wilhelm and Hilda (Beckman) Lucas.
Della passed away at Cheyenne Manor Nursing Home in Cheyenne Wells on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016 at the age of 91.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ernest and Lelon, 2 sisters Luella and Emma Lempp, brother-in-law Gerald Lempp and one nephew John Lempp.
She is survived by her 3 nieces, Kathy Lewis, Stratton; Janice (Mike) Perkins of Overland Park, Kan.; Jeanet (Frank) Leurquin of Enid, Okla., one great-nephew, Gerald (Jamee) Leurquin and children Enid, Okla.; 4 great nieces Kristy and daughter Kayla Rasmussen; Kim (Shane) Eskew and son Reese; John Lempp's wife Karen and their daughters Kaitlyn and Kaileen and numerous other family and friends.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington with Pastor Bill Viergutz officiating.Interment will be at the Claremont Cemetery in Stratton.Love Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Memorial contributions may be left at Cheyenne Manor "
