Gottlieb J. Knodel married Dora "Schoal" February 27, 1921, recorded in Kit Carson County.
"Eva Knodel Schaal, 88, 910 Harrison Ave., Loveland, died April 18, 1989 in McKee Medical Center. She was born Sept. 15, 1900, in Joseph Darf, South Russia, to Gottlieb and Christina Gehner Knodel. She married William T. Schaal Feb. 27, 1921, in Bethune, Colorado. He preceded her in death May 29, 1988. She was a homemaker. The Knodel family, with eight children, came to America by freighter in December 1906. Her parents homesteaded on a farm approximately 12 miles north of Bethune, called the German settlement. She was confirmed in the Hope Congregational Church, where she remained a charter member until her death. She moved to Loveland in 1945 from Bethune. She was a member of the First Congregational Church. She is survived by sons Donald Schaal and wife, Virginia, Englewood, and Marvin Schaal and wife, Lillie, Colorado Springs; granddaughters, Elmyra Schaal, Colorado Springs, and Marvalyn Kothman, Big Pine, California; great-grandsons, Gregory, Eric and Bryan Kothman, Big Pine; and nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the first Congregational Church with the Rev. Lanning Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Loveland Burial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church. Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home is be charge of services and arrangements"


JOHN
On the same boat in December 1906 as Gottlieb was Johannes Knodel 33, with Dorothea 32, Emil 4, Johannes 2, Ida six months, Josephina 67 and, Jacob 24.

In 1920 Kit Carson County, they have Amelia 17, Ida 13, Lowina 10, Arthur 7, and Henry 4.

LYDIA
Lydia married Matt J. Schaal, and they're in Kit Carson County in 1940, - Matt is 26, Lydia 31, Darleen 7, and Daniel 6, all four born i Dolorado.
Lydia 1908-2002 is buried in Stratton # 75472158, with matt J. 1903-1986.

MARY
"Mary M. Schaal, 87, of Wapato, Washington died August 1986 in Mountain Vista Nursing Home in Toppenish. She was born Aug. 7, 1899, in Bethune, Colorado, to Peter and Christina (Dobler) Knodel. She was reared and educated in Bethune, and married John G. Schaal there Aug. 4, 1921. The couple lived in Colorado until they moved to the Yakima Valley in 1936. In 1946, they settled in Wapato, where they farmed. She was a member of the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Wapato and the Pilgrim Daughters, the church's women's association. She enjoyed gardening. Survivors include four sons, Arthur L. Schaal of Wapato, Leonard and John Schaal, both of Eureka, California, and Louis Schaal of Long Beach; three daughters, Mrs. Violet Vollmer of Pasco, Mrs. Esther Smith of Chico, California, and Mrs. Leah Walker of Granger; a sister, Mrs. Matt Schaal of Straton, Colorado; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her husband died July 10,1962. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Merritt Funeral Home in Wapato. Burial will be in the Reservation Community Memorial Park west of Wapato. "
