In 1900 Des Moines County, Iowa, Homer W. Cox born May 1889 in Iowa, is with parents George W. August 1859 Iowa and Sarah A. May 1859 England. Burdett is 12, Anna E. 9, and Lois E. 6.
In 1900 Winnie Friday is in Saline County, Nebraska, with John 52, Johanna 48, Cora M. 20, Elmer A. 16, Joseie A. 14, Curtis R. 7, and John's mother Lucy 92.

In 1930 Homer is a post office clerk in Ogallala, Nebraska, with Ola Winifred, Paul Winfield 11, and Howell Winfred 5, both boys born in Nebraska. So Homer and Winifred didn't stay long in Kit Carson County. Winfred's father John Friday, 82, widowed, born in Iowa aer with them.

In 1940, still a post office worker in Ogallala, Howell W. is 21, with them, with no occupation.
Homer and Winnie were in Ogallala in 1948, when the Allpress family of Beatrice wee visiting them.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 8, at Draucker Mortuary in Ogallala for Ola Winifred Cox, 94, of Ogallala, who died March 4, 1982, at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala.
Rev. Eschliman conducted the services. Burial was in the Ogallala Cemetery.
She was the mother of Howell W. Cox of Fort Calhoun and the grandmother of Kathryn (Mrs. Guenther) Schwartz of Blair.
Ola Winifred Freitag Cox was born July 14, 1887, in Saline County, Nebraska, to Johann (John) and Johanne (Johanna) Glander (Friday) Freitag. She attended school at Western, Nebraska, through the eight grade and then cared for the ill and newborn until going to eastern Colorado where she homesteaded near what is now Kirk, Colorado.
She married Homer Waldo Cox on April 25, 1915 in Burlington, Colorado. They lived on the homestead until their son, Howell, was of school age and then moved to Ogallala, Nebraska.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women, and had been a member of the WCTU for many years. She was a member and historian of the Ogallala Federated Woman's Club for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer, in February, 1961; two sons, Glenn Wendell, at birth; and Paul Winfield in February, 1936; her parents; four brother; and four sisters.
She is survived by one son, Howell Winfred Cox, and his wife, Beverly, both of Fort Calhoun, Nebraska. Two grandchildren, Curtis Wayne Cox, Oxen Hill, Maryland, and Kathryn Ann (Mrs. Guenther L.) Schwartz, two great-grandchildren, Christopher Paul and Elizabeth Shanti Schwartz, all of Blair; one brother, Curtis Roy Friday, West Point, Mississippi; and nieces and nephews also survive her.
Draucker Mortuary in Ogallala was in charge of arrangements and services.

HOWELL
June 1941, Lincoln, Nebraska - "The marriage of Miss Beverly Hennings, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Hennings, of Stromsburg, and Howell W. Cox, son of Homer W. Cox, of Ogallala, took place at the Methodist church in Stromsburg Sunday afternoon, June 8, at 4 o'clock. The Rev. E. C. Staley, uncle of the bridegroom, assisted by the Rev. H. B. Hix, officiated at the double ring ceremony. Mrs. Herbert Peterson, of O'Neill, cousin of the bride, and Lowell Friday, of Oshkosh, were the attendants. The bride wre a white gown and a fingertip veil trimmed with Chantilly lace. Following a reception at the home of the bride's parents, the couple left for a wedding trip to the Ozarks. Their home will be in Ogallala. Mrs. Cox has attended Nebraska Wesleyan, of which Mr. Cox is a graduate."

January 17, 1935 "Mrs. Rose Hitchcock, who has been making her home with her son Gordon and family at Burlington, has been quite ill, haveing suffered two bad spells with a throat trouble within a short time."

Mrs. Cora Allpreai of Western, Mrs. Josephine Staler of Kearney and Mrs. Winifred Cox of Ogallala, and brother Curtis of West Point, Mississippi.

Greenwood, South Carolina - January 20, 1979
Mrs. Sarah Martin Friday, 89, widow of Elmer A. Friday, died this morning in the Greenwood Nursing Home. Born in Shelby County, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late James and Laura Stewart Martin. She had made her home in Greenwood for the past 16 months.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. James L. Cate of Scappoose, Oregon, Mrs. Clyde Nenstiel of Muskcola, Wisconsin, Mrs. John (Lorie) Akins of Greenwood; six sons, Everett Friday of Melbete, Neb., Lee Roy Friday of Sanibel, Florida, John Friday of Phoenix, Ariz., Lowell Friday of Clackamas, Oregon, Ray Friday of Charleston and Roger Friday of Denver, Colorado; one sister, Mrs. Mary Hitchcock of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 28 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, one step-grandchild and one step-greatgrandchild.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Reuel Westbrook officiating. Burial will be in Western, Nebraska, at a date to be announced.

Ruth Cate is in Cassia County, Idaho in 1940, 27, married to James L. Cate. She was in Oshkosh, Nebraska in 1935. James, and Lyle 14 were both in Mitchell, Nebraska in 1935. James is 3, Jack 1.

Ruth Evangeline Cate 1913-2001, wife of James, died in Columbia County, Oregon.
When Lyle died in Connecticut "Lyle is also survived by his three brothers, James Cate and wife, Donna of Nampa, ID, Jack Cate and wife Wynette of Scappoose, OR, Jerold Cate and wife, Diane of St. Helen's Oregon."

Ray Duncan Friday CHARLESTON - Ray Duncan Friday, 90, passed away January 11, 2016. He was born in Lincoln, NE, on May 30, 1925 and served in the U.S. Army in WW2 from 1942-1947. He retired as a high school music teacher and Fox Music House piano tech.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Frieda (Dayley); his sister Lori Akins (John); 4 children, Kenneth (Annie), Gail Mizuk (Kurt), David (Karen), Patricia Lineberry (Chuck); 3 grandchildren, Gary, Michael, Jessica and 1 great-granddaughter Sophia as well as numerous friends and relatives.
He was predeceased by his twin brother Roger and grandson Jonathan. Funeral arrangements by Palmetto Cremation Society.
