Charley Brees was born March 3, 1873 at Fairbury, Nebraska to John P. Brees and Mary Galer.

In 1885 Washington County, Kansas, John Brees is 44, Mary 32, Dora 14, Charles 11, Rebecca 10, Carrie 7 and Lula eight months.
In 1900 Jefferson County, Nebraska, Charles, born March 1874, married four years to Rachel Mar 1875, both born in Kansas, have Agnes July 1897, and Ernest Feb 1900.
In 1910 Saline County, Kansas, Charles is farming, 38, Rachel F. 36, with Agnes M. 19, Walter E. 10, Earl 8, and Claud R. eight months.
Charles registered for WWI with a Stratton, Colorado address, farming, with Rachel and children.
Milton Wilford Walker b: February 15, 1890 in Champion, Nebraska d: August 06, 1962 in St. Joseph, Mo. SERVICE RECORD: Milton entered the service 4 26 1918 at Boone, Iowa. He was wounded and gassed in France and is a holder of the Purple Heart. His Social Security # is 500073045. He separated from the service 3 12 1919 at Camp Funston, Kansas. married Agnes Mae Brees b: July 09, 1898 in Fairbury, Nebraska December 25, 1919 in Burlington, Colorado Father: Charles Brees Mother: Rachel Florence Bennett d: February 05, 1973 in St. Joseph, Mo. Milton 1890-1962 is buried in St. Joseph, Missouri, with Agnes M. 1898-1973, # 76430738.

In 1920 Kit Carson County, Charles is 46, Rachel 45, both born in Kansas. Ernest 19 and Earl 18 were born in Nebraska, Claude 9 and Gladys 8 in Kansas.

Charles proved up a quarter in 14, 6S 45W in 1921.
In 1925 they're in Republic County, Kansas, Charles 32, Rachel 31, Earl 22, Gladis 11, and Claudy 15.
In 1930 Concordia, Kansas, Charles and Rachel have Gladys 19, married a year to Glenn Hill 22, a filler in a produce house.

Mary Elizabeth Bress was born at Albia, Iowa, Sept. 22, 1852, and passed from this earthly life April 22, 1927, age 74 years and 7 months, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dora Poage, of Courtland, with whom she resided during her later life . She was united in marriage to John P. Brees at Ottumwa, Iowa, April 18, 1869. To this union nine children were born. The father and three children preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her loss, one son, Charles Brees of Narka, Kansas; and four daughters, Mrs. Dora Poage of Courtland, Kansas; Mrs. E. S.Hooper, of Burlington, Colorado; Mrs. Carrie Moad and Mrs. Lula Hastings of Lincoln, Nebraska. She united with the Christian church when young.
In 1940 Charley 46 and Rachel 66 are alone in Osage County, Oklahoma.
Charley 1873-1942 # 85986680 and Rachel 1874-1952 are buried in Kaw City, Oklahoma.

Ernest W. Brees 1900-1958 is buried with Bess 1902-1987 in Concordia, Kansas, # 92326860.
Claud R. 1909-1988 is buried with Theresa M. 1908-1995 in Joplin, Missouri # 77218118.
Gladys # 79304128 and Glen V. Hill 1907-1984 are buried in Concordia. "Gladys F. Hill, 79, Concordia, died Monday, March 11, 1991, at the Mt. Joseph Care Home, Concordia. Mrs. Hill was born Gladys F. Brees on Nov. 25, 1911, north of Salina and was a longtime resident of Concordia. She was a nurse's aide at St. Ann's Home and Mt. Joseph Care Home and earlier was employed at Skyliner Steak House. She was a member of the Wesleyan Church, Women of the Moose and Rebekah Lodge, Concordia. Her husband, Glen, died in 1984. Survivors include a son, Glen of Concordia; a brother, Earl Brees of Downs."

In 1900 she's in Jefferson County, Nebraska, married to Edward S. Hopper, with Charlotte 3 and Cay one month.

In 1910 Russell County, Kansas, E.S. is farming, 49, Rebecca 38, with Charlotte 13, Wilbur 10, Cecil 4, and Evert one month.
In 1920 Edward and Rebecca are farming in Kit Carson County, with Wilbur 19, Cecil 16, Everett 10, and Leo 1.
June 1926 Belleville, Kansas "Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brees and family of Narka, Mr. and Mrs. Emil j Brees and Charles Walker of Cuba visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Brees Sunday."
In 1930 they're in Elbert County, Edward with no occupation. Cecil and Everett are mechanics doing odd jobs, and Leo is 11..
E.S. Hopper 1860-1931 is buried in Elizabeth, Elbert County # 45562372.

In 1934 Rebecca, widow of Edward S. is living in Denver at 1231 E. 18th. So does Everett M.. Wilbur and his wife live at 1922 Washington, DEenver.
Cecil E. (Leva I.) is an assembler for Winter-Weiss Company, living at 12 E. Ellsworth.
In 1940 Rebecca is widowed, 65, in Los Angeles - she was in Denver in 1935. Cecil and Wilbur are on both sides of her, both married.

Rebecca died Aug 5, 1954 in Los Angeles County.

Leo Hopper 1918-1986 is buried in San Bernardino County # 23137747, with Ruby Dawn Hopper 1918-1986
Cecil, born July 23, 1903, died April 22, 1989 in Los Angeles County.
Charlotte is married to Justus Knapp, and they're in Elbert County Colorado in 1920 and 1930. They divorced in 1936.
Justus 18892-1956 is buried in Denver # 96571132.

Dora Brees, daughter of Mary and John Brees, was born MUitikj^ti^. 16, 187b, at PpftoMh/ departed this life May it, 1954, at Concordia, Kansas at the age of tli years, 10 months, and 26 days. Dora was united in marriage to Norton Ellsworth Criner August 10, 1885, at Washington, Kansas, and they made their home in Fairbury, Nebraska.
To this union, two sons and two daughters were born; Her husband, one son, John Bd'' ward, one daughter, Minnie May and one brother, Charley, preceded her in death.
On November 28, 1916, Dora Criner was united in marriage to John Poage at Hill City, Kansas. They moved to Scandia and made their home until his death, October 20, 1938.
She joined the Pentecostal church and was a faithful member until the time of her death. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge at Scandia for a number of years. Mrs. Poage leaves to mourn her passing one sort, Clyde Criner of Endicott, Neb., one daughter, Goldie Masten of Belleville, three sisters, Lula Hastings and Carrie Weber of Lincoln, Neb., and Rebecca Hopper of Los Angeles, Cal., four grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and two great-great- grandchildren, also a host of nieces and nejihews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were held May 12 at the Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart chapel in Belleville conducted by Elder Walter Jones. Interment was in the Fairbury, Nebraska, cemetery.
