Arthur A. and Sarah (Read) Warner, Will J. and Edmee (Read) Gardner, 6 South 44 West


Sarah's father Jacob H. Read 1850-1938 is buried in Decatur County, Kansas # 16916028.
Mary Ellen (Cardwell) Read 1852-1936 is buried in Decatur County # 16916023.
In 1900 Sheridan County Kansas, Arthur born June 1880 in Missouri, is working for his farming father W.W. Warner 55, born in New York, married 20 years to S.I. who was born May 1846 in Missouri. Orpha is 17, Edgar16, Cecil 14, and Mabel 11.
In 1910 Tuttle precinct, Kit Carson County, Arthur is 29, Sarah 30 born in Iowa. They have Warden 6, Lualma 5, and Lela 1, all three born in Kansas.
In 1911 "A. Warner of Hermes, Colorado" was a witness for the claim of Frank Bryan for land in 7S 44W, section 5.
He also was a witness for Richard R. Readof Bethune, Sarah's brother, who was convicted of assault on a 15-year-old girl in 1916.
Arthur proved up two quarters in 31, 6S 44W in 1913.
Arthur Asa Warner registered for WWI with an address of Bethune, born June 28, 1880 farming, wife Sarah.
They're still farming in Kit Carson County in 1920 and 1930, with the three kids.

Sarah is widowed in 1940 Kit Carson County in 1940, running a country store, with Elma 28 Arthur 1880-1934 # 89717348 is buried in Burlington.
One tree said his sister Mabel W. Kiser 1889-1982 is buried in Craig, Colorado # 28688235.

My great uncle Art and Sarah Warner lived on a farm 16 miles northwest of Burlington where they also built the Warner Store.This was in the early 1920's.Their daughter Leila married Ray Plummer who became Sheriff of Kit Carson County. Are their any relatives left around Burlington of the Warner's or Plummer's?

Carrie Ferguson had married Raymond W. Plummer in Marshall County, Iowa January 1, 1907.

In 1930 Kit Carson County, Raymond Plummer is a livestock buyer, 46, with Carrie 43, Lester 21, and Clark 17.

In 1940 Kit Carson County, Raymond W. Plummer is 56, born in Kansas, sheriff, with Lela 30 born in Kansas.,

Carrie L. Plummer born January 13, 1887, died in San Diego County Feb 26, 1969, mother Taft.
Clark W. Plummer 1912-2001 is buried in San Diego # 72479001.
Raymond 1883-1974 and Lela 1903-1995 are buried in Burlington # 13526418.
Dorothy Louelma Warner 1904-1964 is buried in Burlington # 89717369.

Warden Warner 1903-1933 is buried in Burlington # 89717519.

Sarah's sister Edna E. Read married William J. Gardner, per one tree, and in 1920 they're in Kit Carson County, with Marlyn D. 4.
They're in Republic County, Kansas in 1930, and Edmee is buried in Rexford Kansas 1894-1973, with William

Edmee Ellen Read, one of nine children born to Jacob H. and Mary Ellen Cardwell Read, February 1, 1894 at Rexford, Kansas and died June 18, 1973 at Hoxie, Kansas, at the age of 79 years, four months and 17 days, at the Sheridan county hospital following a stroke which she suffered on May 17 while visiting in Hoxie.
She attended school in Rexford. She was a member of the United Methodist church in Republic.
On December 26, 1911 she was united in marriage to Will J. Gardner at Belleville. One son was born to this union.
They operated a cafe in Republic for two years, then moved to the farm north of Republic, which was their home until 1962, when they moved to Calif., to be near their son and family. Following Mr. Gardner's death she moved with her son to Edmond, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in March of 1966, six brothers and sisters.
Those surviving are her son, Marlyn and wife, Anna Marie Gardner, a granddaughter, Penny L. Baker and husband, Michael, two brothers, George Read of Hays, Joe Read, of Buena Vista, Colo.
