A general breakdown of his former strong constitution supplemented by heart disease, was the immediate cause of his taking away, although surrounded by all the conveniences of life and the best medical skill in the city, the brittle threads of life were broken, and that devout spirit soared aloft to be with her he loved so well in life, and the children gone before.
Mosiah Winegar was born near Nauvoo, Hancock county, Illinois on October 5. 1838, and departed this life June 12, 1909. aged seventy years eight months and seven days. McCloud of this city, at ten o'clock a.m. on Monday, June 14. The room in which the remains lay in state, was profuse with flowers. Near relatives of the deceased and the clergyman, while nearly a hundred and fifty friends were present in adjoining rooms to pay their last tribute to him who in life had been a warm friend to everyone, and who had gained the respect and esteem of all who were favored with his acquaintance.
The choir sang sweetly and the ministers of the gospel gave good council to the living, and sympathy for mourning friends. The interment was had in Fairview Cemetery, where the fond father was tenderly laid to rest, beside the companion of his joys and sorrows, when they together trod happy pathways of life, and are now sleeping side be side awaiting the resurection morning. A large concourse of friends and neighbors attended his bier to the final resting place. The pall bearers were; Mayor, Geo, O. Gates, attorney, P. B. Godsman, F. D. Mann, Clerk of the District Court, Wyall Boger, Banker, W.D. Selder, and John A. Boggs.
