Henry U. Schmidt, born July 12, 1879 in Bon Homme County, South Dakota, married Katie J. Boese April 25, 1901 at the Mennonite church in Meno, Oklahoma.

In 1911 H.U. Schmidt was principal of the Vona school.

Henry U. Schmidt proved up two quarters in 7 and 8, 10S 48W in 1912.
In 1910 he transferred a plot of land to the New Friedenberger Church in 10S 48.
In 1910 Vona precinct, Henry is 30, with Katie 29, Alfred H. 7, Emil 5, Paul 4 - all born in South Dakota,, and Ruth 1 born in Oklahoma.



Also in 1912, H.U. Schmidt spoke at a school program on the cooperation of students, teachers and parents.
Henry and Katie are in Kit Carson County in 1920, with Alfred 17, "Omil" J. 15, Paul I. `14, Ruth M. 11, Agnes V. 8, and Susie E. 6.

After Mrs. Schmidt died from the birth of a little son on March 8, 1920 and the death of the little baby three days later, Rev. Schmidt with the younger members of his family (Alfred, Ruth May (b.25 May 1908), Susie E. (b. 29 May 1913), Agnes), left for Oklahoma.
Katie and three-year-old Jacob were buried in the same casket in Vona # 20872894.
Henry U. Schmidt 1879-1965 is buried in Meno, Oklahoma # 38482913.

In 1940 Comanche County, Kansas, Paul is a tractor mechanic, 34, born in South Dakota, with Grace 33, Oklahoma, Mrvin 13 Colorado, Calvin 11 Colorado, and Elizabeth 7 Kansas.
Paul 1905-1980 is buried in Comanche County, Kansas. # 55138967.

SCHMIDT, Marvin born March 19, 1926, in Vona, Colorado. Survived by his wife of 60 years Virginia, son, Bruce (Virginia) of Lancaster granddaughters Breda Pulliam (Luke) of Irvine, Trina of Lancaster, son Brad, grandson Dylan, Brady (deceased) of Canyon Lake, Calif., son Brent of Palmdale. The son of Grace and Paul Schmidt (deceased), sister Elizabeth (deceased) Ray Richards husband of Wichita, Kansas, brother Calvin (Roxie) of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Resident of Antelope Valley for 45 years. Retired from General Electric in Mojave. Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 9, 2006, at Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary." "

William Schmidt married Margaret Wiley June 13, 1909, recorded in Elbert County.
In 1920 Elbert County William Schmidt is 37, born in Minnesota, Margaret 38 Kansas, and her mother Mydela 61 born in Pennsylvania. (In 1880 Atchison County, Kansas, Medeba Wilie is 21, married to Fredric 24, and son Pant C. five months old. Medeba M. Wiley, born about 1858, married M. O. Whitney September 6, 1898 in Freeborn, Minnesota - he was 65, and died in 1905 in Minnesota.)



In 1930 Elbert County, William Schmidt is 48, born in Minnesota, farming, married, but no spouse. Mother-in-law Medea M. Whitney, 71 is with him.
William and his mother-in-law are still farming in Elbert County in 1940, and his aunt Annie Dunnegal 66 is a housekeeper, born in Kansas.
Margaret is in the Pueblo state hospital in 1940.
