Daily Herald October 27, 1955 New Residents F. W. Hodson 916 S. loka Until the end of June, Omaha was the home town of this family who came here on a business transfer. Joan Hodson was born in Burlington, Colo., while "F. W." as he is known to his friends was born in Ipswich, S. D. Mr. and Mrs. Hodson have 2 children, Gary, 9 and Suzanne, 7, plus a cat called "Boots." Perhaps somewhat influential in getting the F. W. Hodsons to move to Mt. Prospect were his cousin and his family, Mr. and Mrs. Verne Hodson of S. Pine St., who have lived here a number of years. A graduate of Chadron State Teachers college at Chadron, Neb., "F. W." or "Bob" as he is sometimes called, taught science and mathematics in a Nebraska high school before going on to do graduate work at the University of Nebraska. When at home, Bob enjoys working with woods in his basement workshop. Collecting colored glass is Joan's hobby. Mr. and Mrs. Hodson attend the Community Presbyterian church. He is in the engineering and loss control department of the Travelers Insurance Company. 1960 "Francis W. Hodson, 916 S. Ioka, Mt. Prospect, left Hartford, Conn., Friday after taking part in the first training course ever offered by the Travelers Insurance company on safety engineering for the chemical industry. Chosen as one of the seven men in Travelers’ engineering and loss control department at branch offices throughout the country to attend this course, Hodson is a senior representative in this department at the Chicago branch office. He also acted as an instructor, leading some of the class discussions. He joined the company in 1954 as an engineer. This pilot training course was designed to provide intensive training in such fields as radiation and industrial hygiene so that Travelers representation can provide better service to the chemical plants insured by the company. This two week training course began March 21 and ended April 1." |
