Johannes and Freiderika Lutz , 6 South 44 West

Johannes cash-claimed a quarter in 4, 6S 44W in 1891, and proved up one in section 9, in 1895.
John Lutz proved up a quarter in 10, 6S 44W in 1897.
Nathan Kramer's nice story says Johannes came from Seebach, Russia. He arrived in Kit Carson County in 1886 - his father was a cousin of Andrew Bauder. He had arrived in the U.S. in 1884, filing an intention to naturalize in South Dakota. He had borrowed $235, and on April 2, 1887 bought a plow, wagon, harness, and two horses. two bed steads, one table, three chairs, a stove, dishes, knives and forks, washtub and board and two lamps. On April 23, 1887 he started a sod house 16 x 18 feet, and moved in on April 29 with his wife and five children.
1896 Gipson - Weld County Colorado - "John Lutz made two trips to the St. Vrain coal mines last week."
1898 Greeley "John Lutz was at work in Lucerne several days last week."

BARBARA
Barbara Christina Lutz, born August 1868 in Russia, married Jacob Kramer 1858 Russia. They had Jacob Freidrich, Margaret, Carl Henry, Eduard, Lydia Louise, Henry C., Herman August, Bertha Marie, Clara Rosina, August Gottleib, and Frieda Louise.

My mother's name is Evelyn Kramer Tepe, and lives in Brighton, CO. She is 92 and is the last one left of her generation (other than cousins). Her father was Eduard Kramer who was born in or near Bethune, the German Settlement in eastern Colorado founded by immigrants from Hoffnungstal. My great-grandfather was Jacob Kramer, Sr. who was born in Austria and then went to Birsula, Russia. His wife was Barbara Christina Lutz Kramer who was from Hoffnungstal. Barbara's father was one of the founders of Hoffnungstal after coming from Germany in the early 1800's and also one of the founders of the Bethune German Settlement. Around 1900 the Kramers, Lutzs and some other families (Bauders, maybe Walls) then moved to the Brighton, Colo. area. My great-grandparents, and two of Barbara's brothers were among the founders of Zion Lutheran Church in Brighton where my mother and older sister are still members. ----------------------------------

1901 "John Lutz went to Loveland last week with a load of cabbage."
In 1902 John Lutz was installed as a "W" officer of the Greeley camp of the W.O.W.
In 1910 John Lutz spoke at a banquet in Yuma "a representative of the Denver Live Stock Commission Company."
In 1913 John Lutz was a stockholder in the Farmers State Bank of Yuma.
In 1930 Larimer County, John Lutz and Mrs. Anna E. Lutz were granted an interlocutery divorce decree.

1957 Greeley "George Leo Lutz, 50, lifetime resident of the Greeley district died at the Weld County Genera hospital Saturday afternoon. Lutz was born in Greeley December, 1907, the son of Mr. and Mrs John Lutz. The parents are deceased. He was a farmer and had lived in Weld county except for short periods spent at Loveland and Fort Collins. He had been farming recently west of Wiggins. Lutz was a veteran of World War II. He served in the Philipines. Lutz married Anna M. Kuntz at Fort Lupton Jan. 1, 1950.
He is survived by the widow and by three children: Kenneth Leo, Ron aid Wayne and Zina Marie Lutz. He was a brother of Mrs. Marguerite Smith of Seattle.
Services at 11 a.m. Tuesday from Adamson Memorial chapel, interment Linn Grove."

Anna M. Willetts, 92, passed away on Feb. 7, 2013, in Lakewood, Colo. She was born in Akron, Colo., on April 29, 1920, and spent her early years in the area around Otis, Colo., with her five brothers and many cousins. In 1942, she moved to Greeley, where she met and married George L. Lutz. Anna lived, worked and raised her family in Greeley, until 1977. It was then, she married Earl F. Willetts and relocated to Westminster, Colo.
Anna is survived by daughter, Zina Lutz of Denver; sons, Ken (Sally) of Greeley, and Ron (Jody) of Ark.; granddaughters, Sheila Lutz and Amanda Lutz; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
Anna's burial was on February 12, 2013, next to George Lutz at Linn Grove Cemetery in Greeley

In 1910 Adams County, William 48 and Christina 40 have William F. 17, Frieda 16, Christina 15, Rosie 13, August 11, Emma 9, Helena 6, and Herbert 2.

Christine Lutz, born August 9, 1895 in Burlington, married Frederick Albert Geisert 1919. She died Janaury 11, 1986 in Denver, buried in Dallas, per one tree.
"Fred was a Private in the Infantry during World War I. He was wounded by shrapnel while running a message from the fron lines to the rear. Hespent two days in a shell hole before being rescued. He lived the rest of his life with some of the shrapnel left in his body. "

His father was Albert Geisert of 2125 S. High Street, Denver.
Leonard E. Geisert 1922-2013 is buried in Asbury Iowa, # 110262412.

Leonard E. Geisert, 90, of Dubuque, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Manor Care.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Rd., where friends called after 9:30 a.m. The Rev. Dennis Hill officiated. Burial was in the Asbury Cemetery.
Leonard was born July 15, 1922, in Omaha, Neb., the son of Frederick and Christine (Lutz) Geisert. He married Doris Boland on January 11, 1941, in Rockwall, Texas. She preceded him in death September 2, 2006.
Leonard grew up in Denver, Colo., until the age of 12, and then Dallas, Texas. He attended Adamson High School, in Dallas, and received his bachelor’s degree in Engineering in California. He worked for North American Aviation, in Dallas, before being transferred to California in 1945. He was an aeronautical engineer and was involved with numerous fighter planes. North American became Rockwell, and he designed parts of the orbiting command module for the Apollo Space Program, and also storage units in the space shuttle. Later, he worked for Northrup and worked on the B-1 stealth bomber. Some of his design remains in the B-2 bomber. He moved to Dubuque in 2006 after 61 years in California.
He was active in the lives of his sons as they grew up. Family vacations to Dallas, throughout the western United States and to Canada will be remembered. He enjoyed camping, working on projects in his garage, and was very active in his church. He enjoyed his time on the computer and keeping in touch with family and friends. His faith was a strong part of his life and his guidance for his family will continue to be an influence.
He will be deeply missed by his sons, Arthur Geisert of Bernard, and Steve (Janel) Geisert of Dubuque; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Geisert of Galena, Ill.; a grandson, Noah Geisert of Denton, Texas; a brother Frederick (Vivian) Geisert of Dayton, Ohio; and a brother-in-law, Dale Boland of Dallas, Texas.

----------------------------------------------- GEISERT, Fred W., age 89, of Centerville Ohio, passed away on Monday, June 24th, 2013 at Kettering Medical Center. Fred was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and a life member of both the VFW Post #9927, and the Middletown Sportsmen's Club. After serving in the USMC, WW-II he and Vivian Smith of Dayton, OH were married. Then, after graduating from SMU with a degree in Electrical Engineering, he was employed by Northrop Aircraft and The Boeing Company. During his working years he became a Professional Engineer, registered in the State of Washington. Following retirement and before settling in Dayton, he and Vivian, spent eight happy years touring the entire United States in a van and travel trailer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Christine Geisert and his brothers, Leonard and Raymond Geisert. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 66 years and nephews, Arthur Geisert of Bernard, IA, Stephen (Janel) Geisert of Galena, IL, Evan (Johanna Hoecker) Gray of Mutuchen, NJ, Michael (Shelly Sass) Geisert of Charlottesville, VA, Roger (Cicely) Geisert of St. Paul, MN; as well as many cousins. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, June 28, 2013 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main Street, Centerville. Inurnment will take place following the service in Woodland Cemetery.

Raymond Eugene Geisert 1929-2005 is buried in Fort Snelling National # 27656420 "Metallurgist"

Geisert Raymond Eugene, age 75, of Bloomington, on June 22nd. Formerly of Dallas, TX. Retired Metallurgist with a long history of National Defense Work. Survived by his sons, Michael (Shelley), Evan (Johanna), all of New York, & Roger (Cicely) of St. Paul; their mother, Barbara; grandchildren, Mirabeau, Kytessa, Corbett, & Skylar; and brothers, Leonard (Doris) of CA & Frederick (Venne) of Ohio. Memorial Services 1 PM Monday, June 27, 2005 at O'HALLORAN & MURPHY Snelling Ave. Chapel, 575 So. Snelling Ave., St. Paul. Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

Frieda C. Lutz married Christian J. Beach in Yakima, Washington April 7, 1913. In 1920 they're in Adams County, Christian 27 and Freda 26 both born in COlorado, with Lorean 5 and Leona 3 both born in Washington.
In 1930 Denver, Chris is a truck driver, Frieda a pantry girl, with Lorena 15 and Leona 13. Lodger Herbert Lutz, 21, is with them.

Herbert R. Lutz is in two census pages in 1940, one by the army, the other in CHeyenne Wyoming, with Elizabeth 25, both born in COlorado, with Eugene 6, Arthur 4, and Vernon 3, all three sons born in Wyoming.

Arthur Leroy Lutz, 68, of Fort Lupton died Thursday, Aug. 14, at his sister's home in Brighton.
He was born April 21, 1935, in Cheyenne to Herbert and Elizabeth (Cook) Lutz.
On July 15, 1968, he married Mildred Richardson in Las Vegas.
Mr. Lutz graduated from Brighton High School in 1953. He lived in the Fort Lupton and Brighton areas since retiring from the Navy in 1975. He was quarter master on the USS Blakely in Charleston, S.C. He also worked for the Brighton Care Center and the Adams County Fairgrounds. Between his service obligations, he worked for the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad Co.
Mr. Lutz was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks BPOE No. 1586 and the American Legion Post in Fort Lupton. He enjoyed fishing, panning for gold and visiting ghost towns. He loved decorative arts and crafts, especially scenery and wildlife painting. Artistic handwriting was a talent he used throughout his life.
Survivors are his wife, Mildred Lutz of Fort Lupton; two daughters, Norma Netherland and husband Richard, and Mary Clar, all of Brighton; two sisters, Charlotte Bunja and husband William of Fort Lupton and Sophie Lynn Dewey of Brighton; a brother, Vernon Lutz of Grand Junction; a sister-in-law, Joan Lutz of Arvada; 10 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. A brother, Eugene Lutz, died in 2003, a brother-in-law, Kenneth Dewey, died in 1994, and his parents are deceased.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Congregational Church, Brighton. Interment will be in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver.

He might be the Franklin Lutz, a minister, in 1900 Pueblo, Colorado, born October 1840 in Ohio, married 25 years to Emma A. November 1841 Oho. She's had two kids, both living. Paul D. born Oct 1879 in Ohio is with them, a druggist.

Paul Donavan Lutz registered for WWI in Pueblo, a druggist for Colorado Fuel & Iron Company, born October 24, 1879.

In 1920 Tonopah, Samuel is a machinist in a silver mine, with Emma, both 57. Murdock Smith, a miner, son-in-law, born in Canada 35 and Hazel A. Smith 25 are with them.

Lena Lutz Mlak, 91, formerly of the Fort Lupton/Brighton area, died April 5, 2008, at St. Anthony Central Hospital in Denver following a stroke.
She was born June 13, 1916, to Alex Kraschuk and Anna (Hirsch) Kraschuk at the family home in Fort Morgan. She attended school in Dacono where her father worked as a coal miner. Her family later moved to Brighton where she met Fred Lutz, Jr. Lena was confirmed in the Lutheran Church and married Fred Nov. 25, 1934. Lena had four children and worked alongside her husband for 25 years in their farming business in the Brighton and Fort Lupton area.
Lena traveled to Empire in 1959 with her sister, Mary and worked at a restaurant. She then moved to Denver and found work at Rose Manufacturing Co. She worked there for more than 10 years before being employed as a foreign language interpreter for the Jewish Center of Denver. Lutz was fluent in several languages including German, Russian and Polish. Lena and Fred divorced Aug. 8, 1962, and she married Anton Mlak. They were married until his death in 1973. She loved her home in Denver and, with the help of her friends and neighbors, was able to live there until her death.
