Alexander von Humbolt and Pearl (Brickley) Emens, 6 South 44 West

In 1870 Seneca County, New York, Fanny P. Brickley is 6, with William 35 and Marietta 28, all born in New York.

In 1880 Seneca County, New York, Enoch Emens is a farmer, 60, Eliza A. 57, Martha 24, Alexander V.H. 21, Edward A. 18, and Frederick 16. All were born in New York.
Also in 1880 Seneca County, William Brickley is 43, Maryette 35, John O. 7, Leora 2, Halsey newborn, Pearl F. 15.

1890 Saline County, Nebraska "Miss Katie BIRDSELL, a sister of Mrs. H. F. BRICKLEY spent Saturday and Sunday in the city. " - possibly the Birdsell - Brickley link was why Humbolt and Pearl claimed land in Kit Carson County.

SENECA FALLS, New York
Five days after passing the ninety-first anniversary of his birth, Enoch Emens, one of the best known and most respected residents, afternoon at his home in Varlch. Mr. Emens had spent all of his life in that town and had a wide circle of fast friends. He was born in Varied on June 26, 1819. He grew up in that vicinity and married Eliza A, Van Kiper, who was also a resident of that community. They had six children, five of whom are now living, Miss Martha Emens of Fayette, Olin E. Emens of this place, Humbolt Emens of Victor, Colorado, Prof. Edgar A Emens of Syracuse and Fred Emens of Fayette.
Mr. Emens was always an active man and for at least twenty years was a mem.....

Olin E. Emens was born August 25, 1857 to Enoch, and married Emma B. Burroughs, daughter of William and Lucinda (Beary) Burroughs, in 1881. So Enoch and Humbolt, brothers, married cousins.

1912 "Seneca Falls, N. Y., April 2 - Mrs. William BRICKLEY, 69(?) years of age, and one of Fayette's most revered residents, died at her home in that town Saturday night, of pneumonia. Mrs. BRICKLEY and her husband had been married about a month over a half century. Mr. BRICKLEY and his wife have been active in the life of the town throughout their whole life. Mrs. BRICKLEY is survived by her husband, two sons, Stewart of Mayor, Arz., and Halsey BRICKLEY of Friend, Neb., three daughters, Mrs. Pearl EMENS of Victor, Colo., Mrs. Leora HUNT of Fayette, and Miss Nola BRICKLEY of Fayette; also one brother, William F.(probably Beary), of Louisville, Ky., and two sisters, Mrs. CORYELL of Batavia, and Mrs. Lucinda BURROUGHS of Seneca Falls."
Humbolt cash-claimed a quarter in 20, 6S 44W in 1891. In 1892 Denver, Humbolt, living at 1026 29th, is a partner in Emens & Smith Novelty Carriage Works at 2850 Arapahoe.
Cripple Creek, Colorado marriages June 18, 1899
"On Wednesday evening Miss Leora Brickley and Mr. Joseph W. Yerkes were married at the home of the sister of the bride, Mrs. Emens, on Granite avenue. The home was very prettily decorated with cut flowers and potted plants. Rev. L.E. McNair performed the ceremony. After an elaborate supper, the happy couple left for New York on a visit to the bride’s parents. On their return they will go to housekeeping in a cosy cottage on Granite avenue, which the groom has already furnished. "
Leora and Joseph W. Yerkes divorced in Teller County in 1900.
In 1915 Fayette, New York, William Brickley and Mrs. Leora Hunt went by auto to hear Billy Sunday.

In 1900 Teller County, Colorado, Humbolt, born April 1859 married sixteen years to Pearl Oct 1864, both born in New York, is a foreman in a mine. Ray B. March 1885 was born in Nebraska, and Ruth A. Sept 1891 Colorado.

In 1916, Pearl Emens of 124 N. Third Street, was one of four candidates for Republican state representative for the Teller-Park Counties district.
The Cripple Creek mortuary records show Pearl Emens 1864-1914 buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs.
Pearl Emens's inheritance tax was recorded in Teller County in 1917.
Pearl B. Emens 1864-1917 is buried in Colorado Springs, # 72180380.
Humbolt Emens married Mrs. Mary E. Wilson July 5, 1923, recorded in Teller County.
She was Mary E. Watson Wilson, widow of Thomas C. Wilson.
In 1923 Glendale, California, Humboldt A. (Mary E.) Emens is a salesman, and they live at 627 Allen Avenue.
In 1930 Glendale, California, Humboldt A. Emens is a paving stone salesman, 70, with Mary E. 66, Illinois.
In 1940 Glendale, Humbolt is 80, Mary 76, living alone.
Humbolt A. Emens, born April 14, 1859 in New York, died July 5, 1946 in Los Angeles County, mother Vanriper.
Mary Elizabeth Emens, born Feb 16, 1864 in Illinois, to William D. and Nancy Watson, died in Los Angeles County Nov 19, 1956, mother Newcomb, father Watson.
She's buried in Forest Lawn Glendale # 66287329, "Mary was a member of the Gen. Richard Gridley Chapter, DAR in California where she was Regent 1928-1930. "
RAY
R.B. Emens married Edith Carroll on June 27, 1908, recorded in Teller County.

1910 "Ray B. Emens was in Golden with his wife for a visit the first of August. They are now located at Searchlight, Nevada, where Mr. Emens is the mining and metallurgical engineer for the Walter M. Brown Engineering Company. 'String' Emens has a host of friends in Golden, and many will remember him for his prowess on the football field."

1917 Colorado School of Mines

Ray Brickley Emens registered for WWI in Victor, Colorado, born March 5, 1885, a chief engineer at Portland Gold Mining Co., of Victor. Wife is Edith may Emens.
When they arrived in California from Hawaii in 1929, he said he was born at Friend Nebraska, Edith January 14, 1885 at Golden Colorado, Ray C. March 3, 1911 at Searchlight, Nevada, and Dorothy October 1, 1920 at Victor. In 1929 they were living at Alamogordo, New Mexico.

1959 "Ray C. Emens has l>ccn appointed chief of the Atomic Energy Commission’s Eniwctok branch, with offices in Honolulu and at the Commission’s Eniwctok Proving Ground in the Pacific. The branch is a field organization of the Commission’s Albuquerque operations.
Emens, who had been construction engineer at the branch office since November of 1956, succeeds Ernest Wynkoop, who recently was appointed to the new post of AEC Project Gnome Officer in Carlsbad, N. M. Emens’ successor will be announced later. Before joining the Commission in ALO’s test organization at Las Vegas, Nev., in 1955, Mr. Emens was an engineer for eight years at Holloman Air Force Base and Holloman Air Development Center. Prior to that time, lie was employed as an engineer with construction firms in Alamogordo and Colorado.
He was employed by the Soil Conservation Service in Pueblo, Colo., from 1939 to 1942, and by the U. S. Engineers Project Office, Albuquerque District, in Alamogordo during 1942 to 1945. Mr. Emens is a native of Searchlight, Nevada."

RUTH
Ruth Emens Black was born September 22, 1891 in Denver, according to her arrival in Wilmington, California from Honolulu.
She's in Hawaii, in 1930, where Everett Earl Black 41 is a contractor. They have Robert E. 9, Jane A. 7, and Everett 5, all three born in Hawaii.
Everett is the proprietor of a contracting company in 1940 in Hawaii, and they have just the four kids.
Robert died in 1987, last residence Hawaii. They must have done well financially, because the Robert Emens Black fund is mentioned often in the Honolulu newspaper.

Jane, born March 21, 1923 in Hawaii, died May 16, 1982, and is buried in Colma, Californi # 87568324.
Everett, born April 19, 1925, died May 5, 2003, last residence Hawaii. "Everett Emens Black, 78, of Honolulu, died May 5. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Constance, son Thomas and daughters Cynthia and Evelyn."
