Syracuse New York, July 2, 1910 SENECA FALLS, New York Five days after passing the ninety-first anniversary of his birth, Enoch Emens, one of the best known and most respected residents, afternoon at his home in Varlch. Mr. Emens had spent all of his life in that town and had a wide circle of fast friends. He was born in Varied on June 26, 1819. He grew up in that vicinity and married Eliza A, Van Kiper, who was also a resident of that community. They had six children, five of whom are now living, Miss Martha Emens of Fayette, Olin E. Emens of this place, Humbolt Emens of Victor, Colorado, Prof. Edgar A Emens of Syracuse and Fred Emens of Fayette. Mr. Emens was always an active man and for at least twenty years was a mem..... ------------------------------------------------ Olin E. Emens was born August 25, 1857 to Enoch, and married Emma B. Burroughs, daughter of William and Lucinda (Beary) Burroughs, in 1881. So Enoch and Humbolt, brothers, married cousins. |
1959 "Ray C. Emens has l>ccn appointed chief of the Atomic Energy Commission’s Eniwctok branch, with offices in Honolulu and at the Commission’s Eniwctok Proving Ground in the Pacific. The branch is a field organization of the Commission’s Albuquerque operations. Emens, who had been construction engineer at the branch office since November of 1956, succeeds Ernest Wynkoop, who recently was appointed to the new post of AEC Project Gnome Officer in Carlsbad, N. M. Emens’ successor will be announced later. Before joining the Commission in ALO’s test organization at Las Vegas, Nev., in 1955, Mr. Emens was an engineer for eight years at Holloman Air Force Base and Holloman Air Development Center. Prior to that time, lie was employed as an engineer with construction firms in Alamogordo and Colorado. He was employed by the Soil Conservation Service in Pueblo, Colo., from 1939 to 1942, and by the U. S. Engineers Project Office, Albuquerque District, in Alamogordo during 1942 to 1945. Mr. Emens is a native of Searchlight, Nevada." |
