In 1920 Buena Vista County, Iowa, Melvin is a janitor in the high school, with Bertha, Bertha, both 47, with Dessie V. teaching high school, 21, Alden 18 a fireman at the high shool, and Elwood J. 14.

William H. Stanley, son of Aaron P. Stanley and Sarah M. Lilly, married Fannie Garner in Adair County October 18, 1905.

He might be the William Henry Stanley born 1839 in Indiana, "William H. Stanley died at the home of his son, James J. Stanley, northeast of Dixon, at ten o'clock Monday morning, May 16, 1921.
He was united in marriage to Matilda E. Davis June 14, 1857. The following fall they moved to Ironton, Wis., living there eight years when they moved to Monona county, Iowa, where they lived until 1870, from there they moved to O'Brien county, Iowa, living there until 1882, when they moved back to Monona county, Iowa, where they lived until the spring of 1903, moving from there to Dixon county, Nebraska, where they spent the remainder of their life with the exception of two years spent at Straton, Colorado.
To this union was born two children, James Jonathan Stanley of Dixon, Neb., and Mrs. Della M (Charles A.) Jacques of Sioux City, Iowa. They also raised two adopted children, Mrs. Clara Etta (Thomas)Vernon of Dixon, Neb., and Alson S. Dennis of Colorado, he having preceded him in death in 1902. "Concord News May 19, 1921"
