Melissa Hardie posted "my great great grandfather was Henry F. Obermann
- in his obituary I found he, his mother, 3 sisters and 2 brothers arrived
here in the U.S. from Westphalen, Germany about 1881 but it may have been
1880 - he arrived and lived in Lincoln, Nebraska with his mother 3 sisters
and 2 brothers. One sister I know was Charlotte who married a
Charles Schmale and they lived out their years in Lincoln, NE
and had 2 children Arthur & Freda. Henry & some other members of the family
moved to Snyder, NE early on - and I believe Sophia B. was the name of
another sister who married a William A. Schoeneck and they had 4 children,
also lived in Snyder and at one time mother Louise or Louisa (Louise Obermann 1844-1925 # 69153886 is buried in Snyder, Nebraska. In 1891 and 1893 Lincoln, Nebraska, Louise - wid Frederick, rooms at 619 L - so does William, a lineman for the Lincoln Gas Co.In 1899 Lincoln, Nebraska, Louisa Obermann, widow of Fred., rooms at 229 N. 11th.) lived
with her daughter Sophia and her husband & family
(according to census records). I am looking for anything I can
possibly find about the other sister or 2 brothers.
Also, Henry married Minnie Hoth (pronounced Hooth) in 1890
and they moved to Kit Carson County, CO for about 6 years before returning back to Snyder, NE.
They had 7 children. I am just trying to fill in the missing names of the family. It would be really great if I could find the missing maiden name of mother Louise, but that is probably very wishful thinking!"
In 1900 Dodge County, Nebraska,
Henry Obermann born April 1868 has been married ten years to Minnie
Jan 1860, both Germany. Fred June 1892, Aurthur Nov 1894, Emma Jan 1897,
and Lottie Feb 1899 were all born in Nebraska. With them is widowed
father-in-law Emil Hoth born Jan 1839 in Germany.
One family tree said the older kids were born in Colorado.
