Carroll was a charter member of the Happy Hours Home Demonstration Club and also served the community in innumerable ways by volunteering at the Hospital Auxiliary, RSVP, McArthur Senior Center and many other organizations in the community. Carroll loved to play the piano and played for the Senior Kitchen Band, but her favorite was playing at home surrounded by her family singing or having her small grandchildren adding a few notes of their own. She was also an avid reader and was rarely without a book in her hand. Her favorite author was James Herriot and the stories of his life as a vet. Carroll was an expert seamstress, sewing many beautiful clothes for her family and others in the community. Her family, as well as so many in the community, benefited from her excellent cooking skills. A few special recipes will always be an inspiration to her family.
Carroll went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 15, 2013, at the age of 100, after a long, well-lived life and she leaves a legacy of strength and love that she passed down to her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
