Roy's grandfather Samuel Ettleman was born in Stark County, Ohio Oct 18, 1826, and his family moved about 1836 to Ray County, Missouri, and in 1840 to Adams County, Illinois, then in 1846 to Mills County Iowa and in 1848 to Fremont County, Iowa, married 1847 to Susan Forney, six children - William, Margaret, George, David, Sarah, and Martha.

Roy's stone in Colorado Springs # 34707774 says "Roy Ettleman - Cpl Co E, 157th Infantry, World War I - Sept 3, 1892 - Dec 22, 1953."
Roy proved up 80 acres in 22, 5 1/2 South, 43W in 1920.
Roy V. ETTLEMAN (Kit Carson Co, Colorado) and Bertha B. WAREHIME (of Colorado Springs, El Paso, Colorado) were married June 15, 1921, at Burlington, Kit Carson, Colorado. Both were 28 years of age and the spouse had been previously married and divorced on June 6, 1920 in Colorado Springs.
1920 Kit Carson County "Ettleman, R. V., Farmer, S. 29, T. 6, R. 43, P. O. Burlington. Mr. Ettleman was born in Iowa in 1892, settled in the County in 1915, and married Bertha Warehime. Mr. Ettleman is a veteran of the World War and had nineteen months service."

In 1940 Kit Carson County, Roy is a farm laborer, and Bertha born in Nebraska, is cooking in a restaurant.
In 1946 Colorado Springs, Roy is a driver for Pearl Laundry, and they live at 205 N. Wahsatch.
In 1954 Colorado Springs Bertha B. Ettleman (wid Roy) is living at 746 E. Cimarron.
Bertha is the daughter of Andrew Carnedie WAREHIME and Elizabeth Ann SEARS. 1893-1966 # 34707773.
