Clarence cash-claimed a quarter in 14 and 15, 5 1/2 South, 43W in 1910.Malissa Angeline probably was the daughter of Charles Ferguson 1819-1879 and Amy Allen - 1814-1899 --------------------------------- Galen Eastman Ferguson was born at Coopersville, Mich. on July 23, 1853 and died at his home in Creighton, Nebraska May 20, 1914. He was sixty years and 10 months of age. He was first married in 1878 and there was born to this union seven children, five of which have departed this life. In 1890 he was married at Neligh, Nebr. to the present Mrs. Ferguson. They came to Creighton, February, 1901, where he has made his home since. He had been failing in health for a long time. About March 1st he was overtaken by this last sickness being confined to his bed for more than seven months. Early in life he united with the Christian church. Later about 1894 he united with the Wesleyan Methodist Church. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife and two daughters, Mrs. Mickleson of Lynch and Mrs. Charles Noyer of Creighton. There also remains two sisters, Mrs. Peterson of Lynch and Mrs. Cooper of Algona, Iowa. ...The Creighton Liberal 28 May 1914 |
Mary J. Ferguson, daughter of Charles and Amy Ferguson, was born February 1849 in Wright, Ottawa, Michigan. She was the third in a family of six children. Between 1855-1860 her family moved from Michigan to Davenport, Scott, Iowa. By 1870 the family had moved again to Serena, LaSalle, Illinois. Mary also moved to Serena and was living next door to her parents and a few houses from relatives of her future husband, Alva. Mary and Alva M Peterson were married on Aug 7, 1872 in Serena. They had one daughter, Amy Elizabeth, born Jun 11, 1874 in Serena. After Amy was born they headed west. In 1880 they were living in Liberty, Montgomery, Kansas with Alva's mom. By 1885 they had traveled to Verdigris, Antelope, Nebraska. Mary outlived her husband who died in 1893 in Bush, Boyd, Nebraska. A pension claim was filed in Feb 1894. In 1900 Mary was living in Lynch, Boyd, Nebraska with Francis and Lydia Zike, relatives of Mary's future son-in-law. By 1904 she owned her own land in Bush. In 1910 she was living in Lynch, Boyd, Nebraska with her daughter Amy and her family where she was still living in 1920. Residing with them in 1920 was Mary's nephew, Ray W. Cooper, son of Mary's sister, Malissa Angeline Ferguson Cooper. Mary died after 1920 probably in Lynch. |
