"Frank John Record was born circa 1852 at Illinois. He married Catherine Elizabeth Starr on 28 August 1877.1 Frank John Record and Catherine Elizabeth Starr were divorced on 27 February 1885."
"Catherine Elizabeth Starr married Samuel Archimedes Smith on 18 May 1885. Catherine Elizabeth Starr died on 28 June 1952 at Altoona, Wilson Co., KS, at age 92."

In 1910 Kit Carson County, Ellis is 30, Sylvia 29, Mark 8, and Fern 5. Neighbors are Isaac Bonny and Israel Broadsword.
1910 Goff notes in the Burlington newspaper "Mr. Bolling (sic) and family from Altoona, Kansas arrived here last Friday and are now living on the homestead they bought of Henry Shaffer over near Morris, we are glad to welcome these people to our midst."
Ellis proved up two quarters in 5 and 8, 6S 43W in 1913.

In 1930 Chaffee County, Colorado, Ellis is managing a farm. He and Sylvia have Fern A. Williams, 25 widowed, with Oren 16 and Bennett 11.
In 1934 Colorado Springs Ellis N. (Sylvia D) is a caretaker, and they live at 221 W. Cheyenne rear door.

Ellis Newton Boling 1879-1955 # 77560895 is buried in Benton County, Arkansas, and Sylvia # 34403978 1879-1934 is buried in Colorado Springs. "Sylvia was the 1st wife of Ellis Newton Boling. Their 4 children: Charles Markus, Fern Alberta, Ben Franklin, & 1 living son "Ellis was later married to his 2nd wife, Kate (Breathwait); born 1886 & died 1973.


Oren Ellis Boling 1913-1978, with Viola E. (Reiner) Bolin 1902-1976 are also buried in Colorado Springs.

For those who watch Joe Kenda - the television homicide detective in Colorado Springs, in 1976 "Also present were Police Chief Oren Boling, Mayor Larry Ochs. Mrs. James Randall, wel­ fare chairman, and Mrs. John Webb, historian, both from the Ent organization. Following the death of Ives, many police officers volunteered to continue the program which has been taken to more than 25,000 children and adults. Police Officer Joe Kenda is in charge and is assisted by several other officers as well as staff members of the Victim Services Bureau. "
Bennett Franklin Boling was born on 18 April 1918 at Burlington, Kit Carson Co., CO. He was the son of Ellis Newton Boling and Sylvia Dell Record. Bennett Franklin Boling began military service on 16 October 1941 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co., OK, enlisted, U.S. Army. He married Claudine Olive Walker, daughter of John Claude Walker and Vella Grace Anderson, on 16 June 1946 at Benton Co., AR. Bennett Franklin Boling died on 29 November 1997 at Tulsa, Tulsa Co., OK, at age 79. He was buried in December 1997 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, Tulsa Co., OK."
Fern Alberta Boling was born on 10 July 1904 at Altoona, Wilson Co., KS. She was the daughter of Ellis Newton Boling and Sylvia Dell Record. Fern Alberta Boling married Al Williams in 1923; No children. Fern Alberta Boling married Luther William Gunter on 4 February 1943; No children. Fern Alberta Boling married Otis V. Cable, son of Edwin Mortimer Cable and Martha Genevieve Reeves, on 8 December 1962; No children. Fern Alberta Boling died on 19 February 1992 at Coffeyville, Montgomery Co., KS, at age 87."

Oren Ellis C. Boling was born on 12 May 1913 at Colorado. He was the son of Ellis Newton Boling and Sylvia Dell Record. Oren Ellis C. Boling began military service WW II service, Military Police. He married Viola E. Reiner, daughter of Arthur William Reiner and Elizabeth A. (?), on 15 November 1953 at Washington, D.C; No children. Occupation: Chief of Police, Colorado Springs. Oren Ellis C. Boling died on 28 October 1978 at Colorado Springs, El Paso Co., CO, at age 65."
1944 "Bentonville, Ark., Feb. 14.--
Five persons, all from Bentonville, were injured yesterday afternoon when a motor car in which they were riding skidded on an icy pavement and overturned near Locust Grove, Okla., while en route to Tulsa. Injured were Mrs. Mamie Rhea, driver of the car; her son, Bobby Jo Wilson; Miss Claudine Walker, Miss Josephine Jackson and Ben Boling, who was taken to a Tulsa hospital.
Mrs. Rhea, Miss Walker and Miss Jackson have been employed in Tulsa. Boling was returning to a California army camp after visiting Bentonville relatives. He is a son of Ellis Boling of Maysvflle, formerly of Bentonville. "
Bentonville, Ark., Feb. 17. Technical Sergeant Ben Boling, son of Ellis Boling of Maysville, is in a Tulsa hospital suffering from fractured pelvic bone he suffered in a motor car accident Sunday."

Ben F. Boling and Claudine Walker, both 28, both of Tulsa, married June 16, 1946 in Benton County Arkansas.

Colorado Springs Police Chief Oren E. Boling today announced his retirement from the department after 34 years of service. In a letter of resignation to City Manager George Fellows, Boling, 62, said he is retiring "in order to enjoy a few years of relaxation and freedom from the burdens of the job." He said he would leave the exact date of his retirement up to Fellows and that he will continue to serve in his capacity until a new chief can be found. It is anticipated that it will take several months before a replacement can be found. The hiring process will include advertising for replacements and interviews with prospects. Boling joined the department on Jan. 1, 1942. He was the first officer appointed to the department under then-Chief of Police LB. "Dad" Bruce. He .served with the Army as a military policeman from 1943 to 1947 and returned to the CSPD after his tour of duty. He was promoted to detective on July 1, 1950; to lieutenant on Dec, 16, 1953; to captain on May 1, 1958; and was named assistant chief on March 8, I960. He was appointed to the chief's position by City Manager John M, Biery on June 1, 1966, following the ret i r e m e n t of Chief Cecil McKissick, who had replaced Bruce. In his letter to Fallows, Boling said "It has been a privilege and honor" to have played a part in the development of the department. When he joined the force 34 years ago there were 28 officers. Tlie present personnel strength for the department is 282, and with the hiring of new officers this sum mer, the authorized departmen tal stemgth will reach 306. "I honestly feel there has been more progress made in upgrading the police department in the past decade than in the previous 40 years," he said "W'e now have some of the fi nest and most dedicated officers in the countr>', and it is paying positive dividends for this com munity. I also believe that citi zen support of the police depart ment has been building and growing over the past severa years." Among the many changes made in the department during Boling's 10-year term as chief was the formation of the Spe- Anti-Crime Squad (SACS) training program for officers, which has focused on cutting During that time he taught into the soaring-burglary rate. enfcement at the Boulder The department will also start a Tactical Team later this year. The department, under Boling, has in recent years managed to hold crime in Colorado Springs under the national average. During Boling's administration the structure of the department was changed from two divisions to four, each under the command of a division chief. The four division chiefs—Charles Davis, Harold Red' Davis, John Tagert and Carl Petry—are possible prospects to replace Boling. Colorado Springs Police Protective Association (PPA) pres­ sent Harry Killa said today that, "Chief Oren Boling has on many occasions displayed his devotion, loyalty and keen sense of awareness in guiding the Colorado Springs Police Department through a period of explosive growth, constant upgrading and, during his last year, times of sadness and tragedy within his own department. "ITie officers of the depart- m e n t extend our sincerest thanks to Chief Boling for his many years of devoted service to both the citizens of Colorado Springs and his own men of the CSPD. We hope the people of Colorado Springs will always remember his many accomplishments made with their best interest in mind. Chief Boling has earned a well-deserved rest." Boling's career spanned virtually every division within thej department and, when he was; promoted from detective to lieu-i tenant, he was the first such appointment under civil service rules which make it necessary, to score high on written and oral examinations. Boling helped co-author the first Rules and Regulations and Duty Manual for the depart-^ ment. With a fwe revisions,! those rules and regulations are still in effect. Boling graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) ,Ax:ademy in 1953. He served as training officer for the department for several years following that and orga- Crime school and to police officers in Pueblo, Canon City and to guards at the Colorado State Penitentiary, Law enforcement has changed over the 34 years of Boling's service. 1976 "Services for Mrs. Viola E. Boling wife of Colorado Springs Police Chief Oren E. Boling, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Swan Funeral Home. The Rev. Joe Carroll will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery with pallbearers and an Honor Guard of the police department. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Glassier, Ralph Watson, Byron Thadey, Mark Reyner, W.D. Vandenberg, Keith Hook, William Majors, Nate Dean and J.D. Ackerman. Mrs. Boling, 2306 N. Circle Drive, died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born June 1, 1902, in Bloomington, Ill., and moved to Colorado Springs when she was a small child. She attended local schools and was married Nov. 15, 1953, in Washington, D.C. She was associated for many years with Bell Telephone Co. and belonged to the Telephone Pioneers. Other than her husband, she is survived by three brothers, Melvin Reiner of Colorado Springs, Verlin Reiner of Los Angeles, Calif., and Pershing Reiner of Laguna Beach, Calif; two sisters, LaRona Clark of Colorado Springs and Elizabeth Anderson, Scottsdale, Ariz., and several nieces and nephews. "
