of land in Wallace county, was down to his place, thirty miles southwest
of Goodland last Friday, and was being assisted in taking down a windmill
by F. F. Cutler, a neighbor. They saw smoke near Mr. Cutler's place and
hurried to the scene. Two of Mr. Cutler's boys were playing near a barn
and hay stack. They started a fire which burned up ten tons of hay and
only with the greatest difficulty and hard work, was the barn saved.
The propensity of lads to play with matches and imitate their elders
at smoking has caused many fires and much loss of property.
Children should be sternly cautioned as to the danger of playing
with matches."
