Thomas Wilson of Antelope Springs, Colorado, and Miss Mary E. Watson
of Antelope Springs, Colorado, were married December 3, 1881, at
Antelope Park, Colorado, by Hinsdale County Judge George W. Henry in
the presence of D. W. Soward and J.P. Galloway. In their application
for marriage, the groom states that he is 27 years old and that his
intended bride is age 18.
1882 George A. Brockway and Miss
Louise Markt, both of Hinsdale County, were married January 14,
1882, in Lake City by Justice of the Peace Jno. H. Simmons in the
presence of Simon Hartman and Henry Kohler. In their application for
marriage, the groom states he is 24 years old and that his intended
bride is age 22. John Pendleton files a letter stating he is
personally acquainted with the groom.
Sam Levi and Miss Luna
B. Madaris, both of Lake City, received their marriage license on
March 16, 1882, attested by Hinsdale County Clerk Thomas Shanly. In
his application for marriage, the groom states he is 21 years old
and that his intended bride in age 19. Josephine Wood, mother of
Luna B. Madaris, signs her consent stating that the father is dead
and dated Sulphurett Mine on March 16, 1882.
Harry C. Beaty
and Julia Stamm, both of Lake City, received their marriage license
on April 25, 1882, attested by Hinsdale County Clerk Thomas Shanly.
In his application for marriage, the groom states he is 29 years of
age and that his bride is age 19.
James Duggan and Miss
Maggie M. Flora, both of Lake City, were married May 4, 1882, by
John H. Brinker, a Roman Catholic Minister, in the presence of Mr.
Terrence Brennan and Miss Rosa Duggan. V.P. Flora, father of the
bride, signs a consent form dated May 4, 1882, stating his daughter
is 16 years old.
William H. Taggart and Miss Mary Frances
Fortner, both of Lake City, received their marriage license on May
6, 1882, attested by Hinsdale County Clerk Thomas Shanly.
Patrick H. McEnany and Miss Maggie Connor, both of Hinsdale County,
received their marriage license May 13, 1882, attested by Hinsdale
County Clerk Thoams Shanly.
Oscar McCreary and Miss Sallie
Perkins were married July 2, 1882, in Lake City by Justice of the
Peace Jno. H. Simmons in the presence of Geo. A. Brookes and Geo.
Hine. In his application McCreary states he is 30 years old and that
Miss Perkins is age 26.
G. James Zanenitti and Miss Domenica
Zanold, both of Lake City, receive their marriage license on July
16, 1882, attested by Hinsdale County Clerk Thomas Shanly. On his
marriage application, groom states he is 29 years old and that
Domenica is age 30.
M.L. Kinsey and Carrie Rheim (possibly
Rhein) applied for a marriage license on August 5, 1882, attested by
County Clerk Thomas Shanly. Kinsey states he is 23 years old and
that Carrie A. Rheim is 25.
William Snyder and Miss Nettie
Back applied for a marriage license on August 7, 1882, attested by
Hinsdale County Clerk Thomas Shanly. In his application Snyder
states he is 22 years of age and that Miss Back is 20 years old. A.
E. Vincent states he is acquainted with the bride.
George W.
Marshall and Priscilla Foster Annie Hunt, both residents of Lake
City, applied for a marriage license on September 16, 1882, attested
by Hinsdale County Clerk Thomas Shanly. Application states groom is
29 years old and Miss Hunt is age 24.
Terrance Brennan and
Miss Rose Duggan, both of Lake City, were married September 24,
1882, by Justice of the Peace Jno. H. Simmons in the presence of
Jas. Duggan, Jr., and Maggie Duggan. Application for marriage states
that Brennan is age 27 and that his bride is 23 years old.
Ralph Williams and Miss Emma A. Train, both of Lake City, were
married October 17, 1882, by Justice of the Peace Jno. H. Simmons in
the presence of J. O. Miller and Amy (Any) Miller. Application
states groom is 28 years old and bride is 26.
Charles
Saunders and Miss Sadie Biebush, both of Lake City, applied for a
marriage license on October 21, 1882, attested by Hinsdale County
Clerk Thomas Shanly. In his application Saunders states he is 27
years old and that his intended bride is age 25.
Bernard Orth
and Miss M. F. Emile Kahne, both of Lake City, applied for a
marriage license on December 13, 1882, attested by Hinsdale County
Clerk Thomas Shanly. Application states that Mr. Orth is 33 years
old and that Miss Kahne is 22 years old.
1883 Henry
Youmans and Miss Ellen Thomson, both of Lake City, applied for
marriage license on September 15, 1883. In his application, Youmans
states he is 35 years old and Miss Thomson is age 26. Their marriage
was officiated by Hinsdale County Judge George W. Henry at Lake City
on September 16, 1883, and was filed for record on September 17,
1883. Witnesses at the wedding were Ida Youmans and Kate Hunter.
Edmond F. Snook and Miss Laura B. Barnaby, both of Lake City,
applied for a marriage license on January 13, 1883, attested by
Hinsdale County Clerk Thomas Shanly. In his application, Snook
states he is 33 years old and Miss Barnaby is 19 years old. The
marriage license was filed for record on January 17, 1883.
Joseph S. Long and Miss Ellen Fresh, both of Lake City, Hinsdale
County, and respectively age 35 and 18, applied for a marriage
license on April 25, 1883. The marriage license was filed for record
on May 1, 1883.
Albert Dalchow and Miss Theresia Koehne, both
of Lake City, Hinsdale County, ages 25 and 27 years of age, applied
for a marriage license on July 10, 1883. The marriage license was
filed for record on July 16, 1883.
David Lowenstein and Miss
Fannie Rapp, both of Lake City, Hinsdale County, applied for a
marriage license on August 22, 1883. In the application, Lowenstein
states he is 33 years old and that Miss Rapp is age 22. Judge M. B.
Gerry performed the marriage in Lake City on August 23, 1883, the
certificate stating that the groom is a resident of Silverton,
Colorado, and Miss Rapp is a resident of Lake City. Witnesses at the
ceremony were Alferd Schiffer and Isaac Schiffer. The certificate
was filed for record on August 24, 1883.
Charles D. Peck and
Mrs. Katie Foss, both resident of Lake City, Hinsdale County,
applied for a marriage license on September 22, 1883. In his
application, Peck states he is 50 years old and that Mrs. Foss is
age 40. The marriage license was filed for record on September 24,
1883.
J. C. Garretson, Jr., and Miss Adele P. Cook, both of
Lake City, Hinsdale County, applied for a marriage license on
October 2, 1883. Mr. Garretson states he is 26 years old and that
Miss Cook is 24. The marriage license was filed for record on
October 3, 1883.
George T. Ball of Sapinero in Gunnison
County, and Miss Ida M. Hardy, Lake City, Hinsdale County, applied
for a marriage license on December 20, 1883. Ball is 27 years old
and Miss Hardy is age 22. The marriage license was filed for record
on December 22, 1883.
1884 William H. Crooke and Miss Mary
F. Mendenhall, both of Lake City, Hinsdale County, applied for a
marriage license on January 30, 1884. Mr. Crooke states he is 23
years old and Miss Mendenhall is 22 years old. The marriage was
conducted by Rev. Charles Fueller, Minister of the Gospel, at Lake
City on January 30, 1884, with John J. Mayers and J.C. Garretson,
Jr., as witnesses. The marriage license was filed for record on
January 31, 1884.
Henry A. Avery and Miss Mary E. Watson,
both of Lake City, Hinsdale County, applied for a marriage license
on March 31, 1884. Mr. Avery is 36 years old and Miss Watson is 22.
The marriage license was filed for record on April 15, 1884.
Charles Schafer and Miss Augusta Toepfler, both of Lake City,
Hinsdale County, applied for a marriage license on April 17, 1884.
Schafer states he is 38 years old and Miss Toepfler is age 22. The
marriage license was filed for record on May 27, 1884.
J. W.
Ashby and Mrs. A.H. Kounts, both of Lake City, Hinsdale County,
applied for a marriage license on June 13, 1884. In his application,
Ashby states he is 30 years of age and Mrs. Kounts is 39. The
marriage license was filed for record on June 14, 1884.
John
Kneebone and Miss Mary Jane Cruse are married by Rev. Charles
Fueller, Minister of the Presbyterian Church, on September 7, 1884
in Crookeville, Hinsdale County. Witnesses are John W. Plummer and
John M. Thomas. The application for marriage dated September 5,
1884, is made by William Cruse on behalf of Kneebone and his
daughter, Mary Jane Cruse. He states that the intended groom is 21
years old and that Mary Jane Cruse is 16, nearly 17, years old.
James L. Wing of Antelope Park, Hinsdale County, and Mrs. Eda
Bernard of Antelope Park, Hinsdale County, applied for a marriage
license on September 23, 1884. In his application, Wing states he is
34 years of age and that Mrs. Bernard is 26 years old.
1885
David S. Hoffman and Miss Ida M. Youmans, both of Lake City,
Hinsdale County, applied for a marriage license on August 10, 1885.
The prospective groom is 33 years old and Miss Youmans is age 22.
The marriage takes place in Lake City on August 13, 1885, with Rev.
Charles Fueller officiating. No witnesses sign the certificate of
marriage.
Stephen Harper and Miss Mary Osborn, both of Lake
City, Hinsdale County, apply for a marriage license on August 3,
1885. Mr. Harper is age 27 and Miss Osborn is age 26. The marriage
takes place on August 10, 1885, with Rev. Charles Fueller
officiating. Witnesses at the ceremony are P.M. Hanson and W. S.
Mitchell.
Elias Adshade, Lake City, Hinsdale County, and Miss
Bertha M. Kranichfeld, Barnum, Gunnison County, applied for a
marriage license on July 11, 1885. Mr. Adshade is age 30 and Miss
Kranichfeld is 18. The marriage license was filed for record on July
13, 1885.
Jerome Noakes and Mrs. Carrie Miers, both of Lake
City, Hinsdale County, applied for a marriage license on April 16,
1885. Mr. Noakes stated his age as 25 in the application and stated
Mrs. Miers is age 24. The marriage license was filed for record on
April 17, 1885.
David Dillard of Nurse Ranch, Gunnison
County, and Miss Sarah Elizabeth Hardy, Nurse Ranch, Gunnison
County, applied for a marriage license on March 4, 1885. Mr. Dillard
states his age as 28 and Miss Hardy is 16 years old. The application
is signed by both Dillard and Miss Hardy's guardian, Eliza J.
Brownlee. "I Eliza J. Brownlee do hereby certify that I am the legal
guardian of Sarah Elizabeth Hardy and that she is 16 years of age,
her mother being dead and the father does not reside with the family
and I do herby consent to the marriage of my said daughter by
adoption with David Dillard, license for which marriage is applied
for. Witnessed at Lake City this 4th day of March, 1885. Eliza J.
Brownlee." Rev. Charles Fueller officiated at the marriage on March
4, 1885, in Lake City, with S.T. Wicks and Irus Nurse as
witnesses.
1886 Joel K. Mullin and Miss Annie L. Perkins,
both of Lake City, Hinsdale County, applied for a marriage license
on May 1, 1886. In the application Mullin states he is 49 years old
and that Miss Perkins is 29.
Gid R. Propper and Mrs.
Josephine Cross, both of Lake City, Hinsdale County, applied for a
marriage license on September 6, 1886 before Hinsdale County Clerk
Moritz Stockder. Both Propper and Mrs. Cross state their ages as 29
years old.
William Cohagan, of Lake City, Hinsdale County,
and Mrs. Clara Abbott, Nashville, Tennessee, applied for a marriage
license on January 21, 1886. Mr. Cohagan states his age as 25, and
Mrs. Abbott is 25 years old.
1887 S. L. Brown of Animas
Forks, San Juan County, and Miss Kate Wharton of Lake City, Hinsdale
County, applied for a marriage license on November 19, 1887. The
license application is made by W. S. Elmendorf on behalf of the
couple. Mr. Brown, according to the application, is 30 years old and
Miss Wharton is age 22. The marriage license is filed November 22,
1887.
N. G. Moore and Mrs. Ella Gray, both of Lake City,
Hinsdale County, apply for a marriage license on February 5, 1887.
The marriage license application is made by Charles McDougal on
behalf of the contracting parties. In the application, McDougal
states that Mr. Moose is 54 years old and that Mrs. Gray is 34 years
old. Thomas S. Kirker, Justice of the Peace, officiates at the
wedding in his office in Lake City on February 5, 1887. Witnesses at
the wedding are Carrie Olson and Jessie Kirker.
George S.
Mott, of Montrose, Montrose County, Colorado, and Miss Mary F.
Kirker, Lake City, Hinsdale County, applied for a marriage license
on July 4, 1887. The application for marriage is made by John O.
Davis of Lake City. The prospective groom's age is 30, Miss Kirker
is 21 years old. The marriage license is filed for record on July 5,
1887.
Andrew Jard and Mrs. S. A. Shoemaker, both of Lake
City, Hinsdale County, applied for a marriage license on March 28,
1887. The application is made by behalf of the couple by J. K.
Mullin of Lake City. Mr. Jard, according to the application, is 55
years old and Mrs. Shoemaker is age 40. Thomas S. Kirker, Justice of
the Peace, officiates at the wedding in Lake City on March 28, 1887,
with J. K. Mullin and Mrs. Mullin as witnesses.
Charles
Forberg and Miss Amelia Maurer, both of Lake City, Hinsdale County,
applied for a marriage license on August 24, 1886. Mr. Forberg
states his age is 36 years old and that Miss Maurer is age 27. The
wedding takes place in Lake City on August 24, 1886, with
Presbyterian Minister Francis M. Gilchrist officiating. Witnesses at
the wedding are Louis Kafka and John Maurer.
1888 Edward
S. Shelby and Miss Florence E. Howell, both of Lake City, Hinsdale
County, applied for a marriage license on January 28, 1888. Shelby
states his age is 42, while Miss Howell is age about 36. Justice of
the Peace H. A. Avery officiates at the wedding in Lake City on
January 29, 1888, with Hannah Ashley and R. P. Best as witnesses.
John Swanson and Mrs. Emma Strom, both of Lake City, Hinsdale
County, applied for a marriage license on February 2, 1888. Swanson
states his age as 50, and Mrs. Strom is 30 years old.
E. S.
Smith and Mrs. F. J. Settle, both of Hinsdale County, apply for a
marriage license on February 14, 1888. Mr. Smith states he is 37
years old and that Mrs. Settle is age 38.
George F. Campbell,
of Gunnison County, and Miss Nellie Hale, of Gunnison County,
applied for a marriage license on July 20, 1888. In the application,
Campbell states his age as 24 and Miss Hale's as 18. Attested by
Hinsdale County Clerk William Connor.
A.M. Wilson and Miss
S.R. Miller, both of Lake City, Hinsdale County, applied for a
marriage license on August 28, 1888. In the application Wilson
states his age as 29, while Miss Miller is 25 years old. Attested by
H. A. Avery, Deputy, on behalf of Hinsdale County Clerk William
Connor.
O. D. Zeigler and Miss Isabelle McLauchlan, both of
Lake City, Hinsdale County, applied for a marriage license on
September 4, 1888. Zeigler is 33 years old and Miss McLauchlan is
29. Attested by H. A. Avery, Deputy, on behalf of Hinsdale County
Clerk William Connor.
Charles E. Carter and Miss Mary Peck,
both of Lake City, Hinsdale County, applied for a marriage license
on September 8, 1888. The groom's age is 28 and Miss Peck is age 20.

Sherman Williams and Miss Addie May Watson,
both of Lake City, Hinsdale County, applied for a marriage license
on September 29, 1888. The groom gives his age as 23 and Miss Watson
is 18 years old. Attested by H. A. Avery, deputy, on behalf of
Hinsdale County Clerk William Connor.
Albert G. Wood and Miss
Susie Olson, both of Lake City, Hinsdale County, applied for a
marriage license on December 22, 1888. The prospective groom's age
is listed as 20, while Miss Olson is 16 years old. "I, Miss Ida
Olson do hereby certify that I am the mother of Miss Susie Olson and
that she is sixteen years of age, her father is dead, and I do
hereby consent to the marriage of my said daughter with Albert G.
Wood, license for which marriage is applied for. Witness Lake City
this 22nd day of December, 1888. Ida Olson." "I, George D. Wood do
hereby certify that I am the father of Albert G. Wood and that he is
twenty years of age and I do hereby give my consent to the marriage
of my said son with Susy Olson, license for which is applied for.
Witness my hand at Montrose this 20th day of December, 1888. G. D.
Wood. I certify to the above signature of G. D. Wood as the father
of Albert G. Wood, Wm. B. Upton, County Clerk, Montrose County,
Colorado."
1889 Francis A. Ralph and Mrs. Eliza Repath,
both of Lake City, Hinsdale County, applied for a marriage license
on March 12, 1889. Both parties state that they are of lawful age
and the certificate is attested by H.A. Avery, deputy, on behalf of
Hinsdale County Clerk William Connor. The license is filed for
record on April 20, 1889.
John Bowness and Miss Lizzie Ann
Watts, both of Lake City, Hinsdale County, applied for a marriage
license on April 18, 1889. Bowness states he is 21 years of age,
Miss Watts is over 18 years of age. The marriage license application
is made by Thomas Griffiths on behalf of the couple and is
attested by H.A. Avery, deputy, for Hinsdale County Clerk William
Connor. The marriage license is filed for record on May 21, 1889.
Edward Vreland and Mrs. S .A. Jard, both of Lake City, Hinsdale
County, applied for a marriage license on June 7, 1889. In his
application Vreland states he is 27 years old and that Mrs. Jard is
over 18 years old. Henry A. Avery, Justice of the Peace, officiated
at the wedding in Lake City on June 7, 1889 with Mrs. E. Adshade and
Mrs. M. J. Beam as witnesses.
Alonzo G. Marean and Miss Ellen
Patterson, both of Lake City, Hinsdale County, applied for a
marriage license on August 20, 1889. Mr. Marean's age is given as
30, Miss Patterson is 20 years old. The marriage took place August
2, 1889, and was filed by H.A. Avery, Deputy, on behalf of Hinsdale
County Clerk William Connor on August 3, 1889.
Ernest A.
Foster and Miss Angie Billings, both of Lake City, Hinsdale County,
applied for a marriage license on September 12, 1889. The
application, which is filed on behalf of the couple by Ed. V.
McNeil, states Foster's age as 32 and Miss Billings as 21 years old.
The marriage took place September 12, 1889, and was filed September
16, 1889, by H. A. Avery, deputy to Hinsdale County Clerk William
Connor.
Peter F. Crowley and Miss Maud Cook, both of Lake
City, Hinsdale County, applied for a marriage license on October 12,
1889. Mr. Crowley states his age as 30 and Miss Cook is 20 years
old.
George H. Veo of Cimarron, Montrose County, and Miss
Gertrude May Ashley, Lake City, Hinsdale County, applied for a
marriage license on October 31, 1889. The application was filed on
behalf of the couple by E. H. Biggers of Lake City. Veo is 25 years
old and Gertrude Ashley is 17 years old. The bride's mother is
Hannah Ashley. The marriage took place October 31, 1889, and the
certificate was filed with Hinsdale County Clerk H. A. Avery on
November 2, 1889.
1890 G. D. Cummings and Miss Jessie
Ellen Gilmour, both of Lake City, Hinsdale County, applied for a
marriage license on January 14, 1890, the groom's stated age 30 and
the prospective bride age 23. The marriage took place January 15,
1890, with Rev. J. R. Cooper officiating and Zeno Felder and W. I.
Edgerton as witnesses.
Preston Hicks and Miss Della Joslin,
both of Lake City and respectively 24 and 23 years of age, were
married by Rev. J. R. Cooper on February 22, 1890, with G. A. Patz
and Miss L. E. Cobbs as witnesses. The application for their
