The Adams Cafe and Bar was next to Safeway on east 3rd. There is an
interior photo here dated about mid 1935, and an exterior photo with
cars of that vintage.
And there is a photo of a 1937 Adams Cafe
calendar. From a personal recollection, it was opend by Alice and Sidney
Adams mid 1930's That being depression times, and also that prohibition
ended in 1933, then a mid 1930's seems likely.
There is a clipping
from 1957 with the building still being Adams. Then there is a 1958
clipping where the building was the Texan.
The 1960 phone book shows
it as Venezios Texan. Then there is a 1962 clipping that lists Pat and
Sam Venezio as owners.
In 1973, Mike, Tom, and Margie are listed as
owners in a news clip. There is a 1973 photo with Floyd Leuallen in the
window.
At a much later date, the building was the original Shooters.
photo of Bob Adams with Sydney and Alice Adams, his Grandparents. Sydney, Alice, Gladys, my dad and Caldonia (his aunt) lived behind the Adams Cafe until early 1950.
Adams Cafe. At the far left is Caldonia Adams, Sydney Adams and Mrs. Bushey. Bob Adams is seated and holding a pack of Camels for some reason. I don't know any of the other people in the photo. This is approximately 1946.
