F. Kent and Nannie Wilson
F. Kent Wilson is shown with his wife Nannie on their 50th
wedding anniversary Aug 24, 1972. They were second generation Rifle-ites
attending Rifle schools. Nannie was born in 1902 and passed in 1988. Kent was
born in 1900 and passed in 1973. He moved to Rifle in 1906 with his father H. C.
Wilson, who purchased a clothing store in 1913 that was named Heck and Peck
Toggery. Kent partnered with his father and the business became H. C. Wilson and
Son, operating as The Toggery. Kent bought out his father in 1936. Nannie
worked in the store 8 years, and it was renamed Wilson's Toggery. They sold the
business to Gary R. Miller in 1981. Kent was an avid pilot and in 1946 owned
a Fairchild something like the one in the photo. He and Nannie were leaders in
organizing the local Civil Air Patrol, Womens CAP, and CAP cadets. In other
businesses, they owned and operated 2 farms, and a chicken hatchery, and they
built and operated the motel Kozy Kottage Kourt for 10 years. And, Kent was a
member of the Moose, and was a volunteer fire department member many years. He
was fire chief one time.
