Lafayette Wells and Maxine Green
L W Green was Superintendent of Schools for RE-2 from 1956 until
about 1975. Before that he taught school at Eagle about 6 years then he became
Superintendent at Gypsum for 17 years.
His wife Maxine was an elementary
teacher in Rifle, but was killed in a tragic car truck accident December 23,
1969, near Kayenta, Arizona, on the Navajo Indian Reservation. L. W. was also in
the accident and was critically injured.
