Kathryn Louise Senor of New Castle died of a heart attack
Wednesday in Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs. She was 79.
Visitation will be until 5 today in Sowder Funeral Home in Rifle.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Congregational United Church
of Christ with the Rev.
James Warn officiating.
Mrs. Senor was a
school teacher for more than 34 years. She was a longtime resident of
New Castle.
She was born July 24, 1914, to Theon and Kathryn Deckrow
in Sunlight. She attended schools in New Castle and Glenwood Springs,
graduating as valedictorian of Glenwood Springs High School.
After
graduating from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, she
began a teaching career that took her to Upper Cattle Creek, Harvey Gap,
New Castle, Rifle and Alaska. She tutored students after retiring.
She married Leon F. Senor on March 16, 1934, in Aspen. He died Sept. 23,
1993.
Mrs. Senor was a member of Congregational United Church of
Christ and worked with many charity fund raisers in numerous community
organizations. She enjoyed gardening and dancing.
Survivors include a
son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Judy Senor of New Castle; 'two
daughters and sons-in-law, Frankie and Bob Schesser of Banning, Calif.
and Kathleen and Bob Kuersten of Chugiak, Alaska; a brother, Theon
Deckrow of Kent, Wash.; two sisters, Elinor Kemp of Granada Hills,
Calif, and Lucille Nettingham of San Bernardino, Calif.; nine
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A sister, Fran, and a
brother, Orville, are deceased.
Memorial contributions may be made to
the Kathryn Senor memorial fund, P.O. Box 397, New Castle 81647. The
money will be given to several charitable organizations and projects
that were of interest to Mrs. Senor.
