Rodney Linn passed away Januay 26, 2006, at the
Colorado State Veteran's Nursing Home in Rifle after a valiant battle
with multiple myeloma. He was 79 years old.
Rodney was born May 13,
1926, in Lincolnville, Kansas, to Erwin Sylvester (1889 - 19i0) and
Bertha K. (1894 - 1983) Linn.
He had three sisters:
Vera A Linn
Wilson
Eunice Linn Milbrath
Delores Linn Harrison
He graduated
from Lincolnville High School in 1944 He enlisted in the US Navy May 6,
1944, one week before his 18th birthday. In the Navy, he served as Chief
Petty Officer in the South Pacific towards the end of World War II. He
was discharged from the U.S. Navy on May 29, 1946.
In 1950, he
graduated from Bethany Lutheran College in Lindsborg, Kansas with a BA.
Rodney then married Mary Jean Olson on August 5, 1950, in Lindsborg,
Kansas, in the Bethany Lutheran Church. (Winona Kansas is also reported)
Mary was born on February 15, 1929, in
McPherson, Kansas to Gust C.
and Ida D. Cedarholm Olson.
At her wedding, Mary was listed as niece
of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Peterson and she was given in marriage by her
uncle, Edgar Cedarholm. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cedarholm were hosts at the
reception in the church parlors.
Rodney and Mary raised two
daughters:

Peggy Linn
Edwards, (1952 -) RHS 1970
Rodney taught at Winona, Kansas, for 2
years before moving to Boulder Colorado.
He worked at various jobs
in Boulder and Denver before moving to Glenwood Springs in 1959 to teach
business classes at New Castle High 5chool.
The family moved to
Rifle in 1964. He taught at Riverside High School in Silt for two years.
He then taught at Rifle High School from 1966 until he retired in 1988
at age 62.
In 1971, he received his master's degree from Colorado
State University.
Rodney's first wife, Mary Olson, preceded him in
death November 14, 1986, aged 57, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is
buried with him in Rose Hill Cemetery at Rifle.
Rodney then married
Edna May "Sunny" Dunn in 1990 in Garfield County. Suuny was born
September 10, 1924, in Bucoda, Washington, to Benjamin Franklin Ritter,
and Delila Grace Horst.
Sunny was preceded in death by her first
husband, Raymond C Dunn, who she had married in 1948. He passed away in
1987.
Sunny was a nurse. She started nurses training at Tacoma
General Hospital in Tacoma, Washington then on to the military cadet
program at Ft. Lewis Army Base where she began a career working in Army
Hospitals.
She met and married a career Army officer (Raymond) and
then continued working for Civil Service at Army posts at home and
abroad. She trained in midwifery and map reading in Germany during the
Czechoslovakia uprising for evacuation purposes. She had gotten extra
pediatric, psych, and surgical experience over the years that helped a
great deal in the work in Rifle.
Sunny, age 97, passed away on
November 30, 2021 at home on her ranch at Divide Creek.
Rodney loved
the mountains, hunting, fishing, and horses.
He was survived by his
second wife, Sunny, his sisters, Eunice (Bill) Milbrath, Vera
(Bob)Wilson, Delores (Bill) Harrison.
Also his daughters, Jo (Jack)
Haddox, Peggy (Ron Belak) , and his step daughter, Patti Ragel (Gary
Galloway).
A memorial service to celebrate his life was held
Wednesday, February 1, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran
Church in Rifle.
The family suggested that in lieu of flowers,
donations be made to Rocky Mountain Hospice or the Colorado State
Veterans' Nursing Home.

Bethany Lutheran Church in
Lindsborg was the setting for the wedding of Mary Olson, niece of Mr.
and Mrs. LeRoy Peterson, and Rodney V. Linn, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. S.
Linn, all of Lindsborg, at 8 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Robert Hurty
officiated.
The church was decorated with 7-branch candelabra and
baskets of garden flowers. The pews were marked with white bows and
greenery. Music was given by organist Mrs. Paul Bohning and soloist
Carol Anderson.
The bridal party included:

of white roses with satin streamers
Attendants wore organdy gowns in
blue, green, and yellow, with lacebon colonial bouquets. Taper lighters
wore pink and orchid gowns. The flower girl wore white organdy with a
pink bouquet.

Ozarks and would reside in Winona starting August 17.

Rodney Linn passed away on January 26 at the Colorado State
Veteran's Nursing Home in Rifle after a valiant battle with multiple
myeloma. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 1 at 10:30
a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Rifle.
Rodney was born in
Lincolnville, Kansas to Erwin and Bertha Linn, graduated high school in
1944, and served as a Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy during WWII.
After earning his college degree in 1950, he began a career in
education, teaching in Kansas before settling in Colorado. He taught
business classes for nearly three decades at various schools and earned
his master’s from CSU in 1971. He married twice—Mary Olson, who preceded
him in death, and later Sunny Dunn in 1990.
Rodney was known for his
love of mountains, hunting, fishing, and horses. He is survived by his
wife Sunny, three sisters, two daughters, and a stepdaughter.
In lieu
of flowers, the family requested donations to Rocky Mountain Hospice or
the Colorado State Veterans' Nursing Home.

Sunny, age 97, passed away on November 30, 2021 at
home on her ranch at Divide Creek.
She was born September 10, 1924 in
Bucoda, Washington, to Benjamin Franklin Ritter and Delila Grace Horst.
Sunny was preceded in death by her husbands Raymond C. Dunn (married
1948–1987) and Rodney V. Linn (married 1990–2006); parents Benjamin and
Delila; brothers Samuel H. and John B. Ritter; son David; and beloved
stepmother Gertrude Ritter.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia
Ragle (Gary Galloway); grandchildren: Lance (Serena) Galloway and Gigi
Galloway (Dave Ebeler); great-granddaughters: Aspen, Samantha, Sierra,
Tessa, and Kaelyn; great-grandsons: Bryson, Aden, Griffin, and Cary;
soon-to-arrive great-great grandson Galloway (Aspen).
Nieces: Rena
(Tom) Patch, Darla Ritter, Carol Guyer, Susan Broderick. Grand-nieces:
Melissa (James) Johnson, Amanda (James) Harahan, Nancy Kotkins.
Great-nephew: James Wisdom.
Sunny was a kind, soft-spoken, gentle
lady with not a “hair out of place.” In her own words, “It has been a
good life.”
She began nurses training at Tacoma General Hospital in

Edwards–Linn
Peggy Linn and Mark Edwards were
united in marriage July 24, at Cascades, Rifle Creek, Rifle. The Rev.
Lynn Evans officiated.
Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Linn of Rifle are
parents of the bride.
Helen Whitehead of Glenwood, N.M., and
Richard Hailstone of Denver are parents of the groom.
The bride
chose a Victorian style white cotton dress with stand-up collar, a
ruffle trimmed the front and back of the schiffli lace yoke. It featured
a full flared ruffled skirt accented with a pale yellow cummerbund. The
headpiece was a wreath of silk flowers with a shoulder-length veil. She
carried a basket of assorted peach and yellow silk flowers.
