John Battiste Garbolino (1858-1889)
Lot 601 / Plot 6
Died March
3, 1889
According to the cemetery records John Garbolino was the
first person interred in Highland Cemetery. There is little information
about John or his cause of death. He emigrated from Italy via Le Havre,
France boarding a ship to Normandy and then to New York arriving
September 13, 1886. He did not arrive with anyone else with the name of
Garbolino. The cemetery records also show two Garbolino babies interred
next to him. There are no markers for the babies.
There are four
other adult Garbolino individuals interred in the cemetery although they
are not located in the same plot with John. They are husband and wife
James & Lucia "Lucy" (1860-1949) (1867-1937), Peter (1850-1925) and John
(1867-1937).
