Vaughn Heberling died January 16, 1936, in Glenwood at Dr. Porters Hospital. He was 48 years old
He was born to George and Anna Eliza Keeling Heberling on July 23, 1887, in Fayette, Missouri.
He married Alice L. Dinerschren
Heberling November 8, 1907. They had one daughter Leona Pearl born June 23, 1908, in Garfield County,
Alice was born about 1895 in Utah according to census records. They were divorced July 14, 1913, in Garfield County.
Alice then married Edmond Boyle December 26, 1916, in Glenwood. By 1940, she was a widow with an 18 year old son Edmund.
Vaughn then married Anna Franger Heberling on May 2, 1918, in Glenwood, with Justice of the Peace C M White presiding.
Anna was born in Rumpersdorf, Oberwart Bezirk, Burgenland, Austria, April 2 1894.She emigrated to the United States from Vienna arriving October 15, 1913, in NY City on the ship Kaiser Wilhelm II. She was following her father, J. Franger, and an older sister, M. Franger, to Glenwood.
They had one daughter, Mrs. Bessie Marie (Melvin J.) Detton. Bessue was born January 1, 1922, in Glenwood and died March 21, 1998, also in Glenwood.
Beginning in 1904, there were about 15 different businesses at 811 Grand before The Cafe, the last being the Lewis Gift Shop June of 1923.
Vaughn and Anna Heberling opened a meat market January 20, 1922, on Grand Avenue said to be near the south end of the bridge.
At the time of the 1930 census, Vaughn was renting, living at 811 Grand Avenue, his occupation was Meat Cutter in a butcher shop, and he was working on own accord.
That census also shows Vaughn's mother Anna and his younger brother George living with him.
By 1936, Vaughn had opened The Glenwood Cafe at 811 Grand Avenue. He was probably the founder and probably opened it in 1923. The couple had operated the Glenwood Cafe for many years and he died in 1936.
When he died January 16, 1936, his Funeral was 2 PM, from Chapel, with Rev. Robert Crain officiating. Burdge Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. He was buried in Rosebud Cemetery at Glenwood Springs.
Anna died Friday August 27, 1965, at her home in Glenwood. She was 71 years old.
Her funeral was Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the LDS Church with Bishop Glen Bair officiating. Burial was in Rosebud Cemetery under the direction of Farnum's Mortuary.
