George Julian Green

Death called another Old timer from this community Friday morning when George Green passed away at his home on Rifle Creek after being ill for less than an hour. (May 26, 1944) He made his home with his daughter Mrs. Tony Stephens and Mr. Stephens
Mr. Green was born in Michigan August 12, 1867 and as a child went to Kansas with his parents and there grew to manhood.
He came to Colorado in 1888 and settled on Rifle Creek where he maintained his home until his death.
In 1893 he was united in marriage with Miss May E. Chivers (Chivers Family) at the home on Rifle Creek. To this union seven children were born. One son passed away in infancy and John the oldest son died that August. The wife and mother passed away in November 1941. Surviving members were the three daughters Mrs. Sadie Wood, Mrs. Amy Stephens and Mrs. Georgia Wilson, two sons Anson and Deyoe Green of Rifle;18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Christian church with the Reverend O. B. Duckworth officiating and the Sayre funeral home in charge.

Back row L to R:.John Green, Sadie Green (Wood). Front row L to R: Deyoe Green (ranched in Peach Valley) Anson Green (worked at Rifle Post office) May Green, George Green  and Georgia Green (Wilson). The baby is Amy Green (Stephens). She was born December, 1910 so I'm guessing this was taken sometime in 1911.
