GARFIELD
COUNTY, COGENWEB PROJECT
Annie (Giem) Eshe is another early area
pioneer. She owned and operated the Rulison Store until it
burned down March 2, 1950. And, she and her husband also had
a ranch west of Rifle near Parachute. As she outlived her
husband by 31 years, she was quite a character. The Rifle
Rural Volunteer Fire Department was making headway in saving
part of the store until the ammunition started going off as
the newspaper says like Chinese firecrackers. Annie was
born in Castle Rock April 24, 1896 and passed away in Rifle
November 11, 1981. She was married to Jacob Eshe in 1928.
Jacob was from Montgomery County, Pennsylvania and came
west to the gold fields in the late 1800's with his parents.
Jacob was born January 1, 1870 and passed away April 23,
1950. They are both buried in the Battlement Cemetery.
Records do not list any descendants .
