About 1890, F. M. Collins built the first Livery in Rifle, ie Collins
Livery, and started a stage line. The livery was across 2nd south of the
Winchester.
He soon left town and the stable name became Rifle
Livery. It changed hands frequently, survived the 1902 fire.
In 1894,
Collins was the Manager of the Middle Park Stage Line.
Interesting,
Steve Rippy posted a photo of the M F Collins livery in New Castle from
the same time. Maybe FM and MF Collins were brothers.
Here are some
images that show this first livery stable.
Very early photo, not much in town yet Collins and Winchester.
