Sarah was born in Pennsylvania
and died in New Castle. Sarah's son Harrison, known as Henry because his
father was also named Harrison, moved to a ranch at the top of Main Elk
Creek along with his mother Sarah and his sister Lucy Hale sometime
prior to 1900.
The records have little information about Sarah other
than her husband was Harrison Sr. and she had three children, Harrison
Jr., Lucy and Sarah, known as Sally. Census data indicates Harrison
lived in Leadville in 1890 as did his sister Lucy Hale who was a school
teacher. Lucy was noted as a widow in the 1900 census while living with
her mother Sarah and brother Harrison on Main Elk Creek. Harrison,
"Henry" was listed as single in the 1900, 1910 and 1920 census and it
appears he was never married. There is no headstone for Harrison
Clinetop.
Growing up I was very familiar with the Cline Top road on
Main Elk Creek leading up to Cline Top Mesa and the Flattops but was
unaware where the name came from until I came across this information.
