The Sugar City Schoolhouse in Crowley County, Colorado, built in 1914, was a significant red-brick building that served all 12 grades until a separate high school was constructed nearby in the 1920s, later becoming a grade school, and eventually saved from ruin by community efforts to become the Heritage Center, a community center, town hall, and museum, notes the Colorado Encyclopedia.

Opening: It opened in November 1914 with 44 students, offering secondary education until a dedicated high school was built nearby in 1920.
