ca. 1908 Grade School Photo. Possibly official school photo. The five children of Alfred James and Mary Jemina (nee DAVIDSON) SMITH are identified. (1) Ida (back row second from left); (2) Neva (back row far right, standing); (3) Susie (front row, far left with bow in her hair); (4) Lucy (front row, third from left); with brother (5) Alfred leaning against her.
The note on the back, written by one of Neva's daughters (believe it was Pearl Sanders Logan) estimates the date to be "about 1908" but may have been a year or two earlier: "Cheyenne County, Colo, grade school (up to 8th grade) made of sod. Only school for miles around. About 17 miles S.E. of Cheyenne Wells. Also had Sunday School there. About 1/4 mile from Smith home."
