“Bob” Bostwick said the dust at Pine River is so thick that you could write your name almost anywhere in the atmosphere. C. H. Loucks lost another valuable cow last Monday, making two within a week. He must have seen the new moon over his left shoulder. Onion sociables are the latest fashionable novelty in Wyoming Territory. Six ladies take an onion with them into a room, and one of them takes, a bite out of it. Then a young gentleman is admitted, and if, after kissing them all, he fails to tell which of them, bit the onion, all the girls are obliged to kiss him. Some of our young men are going to introduce it here next week. Say, fellows, don't forget to invite the editor. The best event of the season happened last Saturday night at Woodmen Hall. The dance was a regular "hot tamale," and the ladies were asindependent as the mayor of our city. It was the intention of the scribe to tell who was the best and most graceful dancer, the nicest dressed, and best looking lady there, but have come to the conclusion that it would be utterly impossible, for there was Mrs. Garvin dressed in light blue waist., black skirt, hair and eyes to match. "Dug" didn't give her those black eyes, for they were natural. Mrs. McGirr, white tarlatan, which made her look rather stunning; Mrs. Laughlln, white waist, black skirt, and fit just like the paper on the wall; Mrs. Haad, pink waist, black skirt, and was well, she looked awfully nice; Mrs. Bayles, Mrs. Hatcher, Mrs. Parr, Mrs. Kern, Miss Hyler, and Mrs. Phillips were dressed in black; Miss May Highland, brown; Miss Myrtle Highland, plaid waist, green skirt, and looked as "cute" as any of them. Miss Kern, white waist, red skirt, and was finer than silk: the two Miss Shellhamers, white wool challie, and "Ery" simply sang "Two Little Girls in —;" Mrs. Melrose, blue waist, black skirt; Mrs. Lee Parr, white waist, brown skirt; Miss Clark, green plaid. The ladles all looked prettty, and Mr. Parr thinks it would be a good idea to leave it to the vote of the people present The gentlemen looked nice, too, especially those parting their hair in the middle. The next dance will come off on the night of the 17th. |
