BOXING EVENT

This boxing ticket just recently surfaced in my family and the following is the story of the event.

Everything has been made ready at the East Turner Hall on East Third Street for the boxing contests tonight.  This hall is well heated and well lighted.  The elevated ring is up and chairs have been placed around it and the balcony will hold a large crowd.  The ringside seats will be $1.50 and the balcony seats $1.00.

There is considerable interest taken in the preliminary between "Gig" Cree, the "fighting switchman" from Aspen and Mike Keefe, of Leadville.  Manager Irwin said he sold tickets to railroad men whom he believed were going to see the preliminary more than they were the main event.

Quite a few people are coming from Aspen to root for Cree and Fred Bruin will be in "Gig's" corner.  The Aspen sentiment is strong for Cree.

Yesterday Kid Texas, one of the principals in the scheduled twenty round, main event, did nothing but rest.  He is a little below weight, 130 pounds, and having worked so hard for the previous ten days thought he would take a much needed rest.  A little light exercise today before he weighs in at the Hotel Vendome at 8 o'clock will be all --------------he enters the ring tonight at half past eight.

His training partner, Hugh Bradford of Pueblo, said Texas was in excellent shape and he felt fonfident he would win.

Crecilious, the other main event principal, did ---------- the rest yesterday and boxed several rounds with Kid Sharkey.   He is ------ than a pound below weight and today will rest until noon when he will hit the track again for a few miles, take a rub down and then weigh in.  Billy is sure he can keep his weight.  He says he will put up a hard fight and thinks he will win out.

George ---- manager for Frank Hardin said yesterday that Frank had accepted a challenger to fight Murray Choles at Victor twenty rounds on Christmas night.

Manager Irwin has been selected and agreed upon to referee both the preliminary between Cree and Keefe and the main event.   He said he thought both would be hard fights and as to the main event he couldn't say who would win.

"I am to referee the fight from the standpoint of a referee not to size which one as advantage over the other, I think it will be a hard and fast fight and will no doubt keep me busy.  Crecilious is in good shape and so is Texas.  I know Crecilious can stand a pounding and so can Texas.  I think it is a toss up."

Dago Mike said he liked Crecilious' chances.  "He's got the wallop and thought to win", said Mike.

Cecil Fortenque would voice no opinion except that he thought the bout would go the limit.

In any event there are two good bouts on for tonight and to those who like good boxing ------- a ------ if tonight's program will give them more than their money's worth.

Five hundred people saw two fast bouts last night at the East Turner hall in the first Charles Crecilious got the decision over Mike Keith of Denver and Rio Grande railroad and in the second Kid Texas of Pueblo knocked out Billy Crecilious in the ninth round after eight previous rounds of the hardest kind of fighting.   Crecilious made a showing that does him credit and was game to the core through the entire night.  Texas did not score any advantage until after the sixth round.
