In 1900 Martin County, Minnesota, Chas. E. Gibson is an editor, born April 1871 in Iowa, married three years to Mabel E. born Dec 1872 in Iowa, with Gertrude G. July 1898 in Minnesota. Hannah Malchow born Sept 875 in Minnesota is visiting.
In 1910 Kit Carson County, Charles E. Gibson is a newspaper publisher, 39, born in Iowa, Mabel A. Gibson 37 Wife, and Gertrude G. Gibson 12 Daughter.

In February 1910, Charles E. Gibson sold the southwest quarter of 32, 9S 43W to Charles A. robinson for $600.

Charles proved up two quarters in section 34, 9S 51W in 1912.

1915 "Stratton, Seibert, Flagler and Arriba are all new towns still building rapidly and practically all built in the last eight years.
Here in the town of Flagler in Kit Carson county two banks, three hotels, two newspapers, four auto garages, one livery barn, four general stores, one drug store, one flouring mill, two restaurants, two lumber yards, one harness shop, one clothing store, two cream stations, two hardwares, two blacksmith shops, tin shop, big I.O.O.F. Hall, fine new High School building and a fast football team that has cleaned all the high slhool teams in this part of Colorado. The Flagler Progress by Chas. E. Gibson and the Flagler News is the name of the two newspapers. There are also two elevators here and they say it is nothing uncommon to take in fifty wagon loads of wheat a day. Flagler is probably a little the largest town between the east line of the state and Colorado Springs."

"Funeral services were held at the Union mortuary, Bountiful, on Dec. 7, for Mrs. Mabel E. Gibson, a former Gusher resident, wife of Charles E. Gibson, of Bountiful, who died Dec. 5 at 2:30 a. m.. Services were conducted by Rev. George K. Dreher, of Congregational Community church. Mrs. Dirk Van Uitert furnished organ selections preceeding and following the service. Bishop R. V. Ord of the Fourth ward offered the invocation. Mrs. Ocel Walker, of Salt Lake City sang, "One Sweetly Solemn Thought," accompanied by Mrs. Elizabeth Otis. Following the reading of passages from the Scriptures and a message of hope and consolation from the minister, interment was made in the Bountiful city cemetery.
Out of town friends attending the services were Mrs. Henry Wopsock, of Whiterocks; Mrs. Helen McFarland and Mrs. Stella Underwood, Gusher; and Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Taylor, Vernal.
Mabel Elizabeth Alexander was born Dec. 26, 1873 in Iowa, a daughter of Arith and Sarah Hayhurst Alexander. She was educated in the schools of Mason City, Iowa, and attended Breck college at Wilder, Minn. She taught in the elementary schools of Minnesota prior to her marriage to Charles E. Gibson in 1897. Mrs. Gibson was a full partner with her husband in editing and publishing weekly newspapers in Welcome and Triumph, Minn., and at Flagler, Colo., following the family's move to Eastern Colorado in 1908. Mrs. Gibson was a leader in civic and religious affairs and was especially recognized for her work with the young people. She was a life member of the Woman's Christian Temperance union and was affiliated with the Royal Neighbors and Rebekah lodges. Mr. and Mrs. Gibson moved to Utah in 1918, where Mrs. Gibson entered Civil Service, holding a position as Girl's advisor in the Indian Boarding school at Chemawa, Ore., and Whiterocks, Utah, until her retirement in 1936. The Gibsons bought a home in Gusher, where they lived until they moved to Bountiful in 1947.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. V.T. Rice, of Bountiful; three grandchildren, Mrs. Carl Peterson, of Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Helen Armstrong and Glen Rice, and three great-grandchildren, Ann, Alan and Patricia Armstrong, all of Bountiful; a sister and brother, Mrs. Laura Pollard and Roscoe Alexander, of East End, Sask., Canada; and a brother, Taylor Alexander, of St. Paul, Minn."

"Charle Edward Gibson, 96, died of complications following a stroke Tuesday at the residence of a daughter Mrs. Gertrude Grace Rice. Born April 21, 1871 in Iowa to the Rev. William snd Hannah McKee Gibson. Married to Mabel Alexander Aug 27. 1897, in St. James, Minn.. She died Nov 1950. Retired editor and owner of newspapers in Colorado and Minnesota. Resided in Bountiful since 1947. Member Bountiful Community Chuich.
Survivors: Daughter, Mrs. Rice, three grandchildren, five greatgrandchildren."

In March 1911 Gertrude Gibson received a passing score for the eighth grade exam.

Velman and Gertrude Gibson married in Kit Carson County on January 31, 1916. Witnesses were spouse's father Charles E. Gibson and Gerald H. Rice.

November 1912 Alamosa, Colorado "Charles E. Gibson and wife of Boston arrived in Alamosa few days ago and are visiting different parts of the valley at the present time. Mr. Gibson is president of the Charles E. Gibson Co. and has in company with the vice president, C. A. Robinson and tho popular local manager, R. 8. Shahan, been looking over the holdings of the company. Thoy own three large Austin type ditching machines, each of which has made a successful run throughout the present season. Mr. Gibson has the distinction of having a town in the valley named in his honor, being Gibson, 26 miles north of Alamosa, on the D. & R. G. railroad."


August 1919 "C. E. Gibson, sr., of Boston, came up from Alamosa Saturday and spent the day with his son, C. E. Gibson, jr., and family. Mr. Shahan came up from Alamosa Saturday evening and was a dinner guest with C. E. Gibson and family"
