Baker http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~shadywoo/index.htm April 1, 2002 ================================================= IVAN SCARLETT March 12, 1913 July 19, 1992Memorial services for Ivan Scarlett of new Castle will be a 2 p.m. Wednesday in Apple Tree community church at Apple Tree Park in New Castle with Pastor Joel Miller officiating. Cremation has taken place. Mr. Scarlett died of natural causes Sunday in Valley View Hospital in Glenwood springs. He was 79. He was born march 12, 1913, in Grand Junction, where he spent his childhood. Mr. Scarlett married Verda Mae Elliott on July 28, 1930, in Grand Junction. She survives. They moved to Glenwood springs in the early 1950’s and to New Castle in 1983.He worked as a heavy-equipment operator for many years and in construction and logging. Mr. Scarlett was a member of Apple Tree Community Church. He was also a member of Glenwood Springs Lodge No. 62 of the Masons. He enjoyed woodworking, fly-fishing and watching boxing. Other survivors include two sons and daughters =-in-law, Donald and Denise Scarlett of Orlando, FL. And John and Donna Scarlet of Glenwood Springs; four grandchildren, Debra J. Smart Wold of Grand Junction, Linda A Smart Melsen of Denver, Ralph D. Smart of New Castle, and Ambra B. Scarlett of Glenwood Springs, and three great-grandchildren.Two daughters, Leila Mae Scarlett and Marilyn R. Smart-Wold; a brother; and two sisters are deceased. His last sister, Edith Bauer, died one hour before his death. Farnum-Holt Funeral Home in Glenwood Springs is in charge of arrangements.
