Scarlett of Olathe were held Friday afternoon at the First Baptist church here, Rev. J. Sanders officiating. Burial was in Olathe cemetery. Mr. Scarlett, who died April 30, is survived by his wife; three children, Leo Scarlett, who is here from naval training in Pensacola, Fla.; Mrs. Helen Lorraine Kowitz, San Francisco, Calif.; and Nina Scarlett, eighth grade pupil at the Olathe schools; Harland Scarlett of Olathe, a brother; Mrs. Amy Holloway of Grand Junction, a sister; and two half brothers, Harry [Harvey] Whitemore [Whitmore] of Severance and Bruce Whitemore [sic] of Brighton. Mr. Scarlet was born at Severance, Colo. Dec 4, 1892. He has lived on the western slope for the past 37 years. He married Etta Phillips Feb. 11, 1918 at Delta. Until six weeks prior to his death, Mr. Scarlett was engaged in farming.
