Obituary: MARSH, John Jefferson; Delta CO http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/co/delta/obits/obrienfr.txt Donated by: Jeri Wethington Paull jerbru39 @ comcast.net (remove spaces) April 2005 =============================================================== Headline: FRANK O'BRIEN FATALLY HURT TAMING HORSE Frank E. O'Brien, 42, succumbed Monday afternoon to injuries received Sunday when he was thrown by a bucking horse near his ranch in Escalante canon (SIC). The horse started bucking as soon as Mr. O'Brien mounted, and at each jump the saddlehorn struck the man, inflicting numerous internal injuries. O'Brien finally fell from the horse, but managed to drag himself some distance to the road, where he was found in a critical condition by Horace Richards. Richards brought him to his home in North Delta where he passed away at 2:30 the next afternoon. Mr. O'Brien was born in Leadville September 11, 1893, but has lived here for a number of years. Mrs. O'Brien and their six children have been living in North Delta to give the children an opportunity to attend school, but he lived on the nationally famous Capt. Smith place in Escalante. No funeral arrangements have as yet been made awaiting word from his father, J. E. O'Brien of Craig, Colo. The Delta Memorial Chapel is in charge. Left to mourn his death are his widow, six small children, and his father. Source: Unknown Newspaper dated approx. November 5th, 1935.
