Dora Gurule
April 13, 1946 - December 5, 2011


Former Durango resident Dora Gurule died of lung disease Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, in Aztec. She was 65.
Mrs. Gurule was born to Crecencio and Delidia Gonzales on April 13, 1946, in Dyke, which is in Archuleta County. She grew up in Durango.
In August 1963, she married Dismel Gurule Jr., known as "Junior," at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Durango.
The Gurule family moved to Aztec in 1980. Mrs. Gurule was a homemaker.
"During the last 30 years, she raised a wonderful family, loved her grandchildren and blessed all who knew her with happiness," her family said.
Mrs. Gurule was preceded in death by her son Kevin Gurule.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Junior Gurule, of Aztec; sons George Gurule of Aztec, James Gurule of Farmington and Robert Gurule and Leonard Gurule, both of Albuquerque; daughters Jennifer Blohm and Jayme Wilson, both of Aztec, Jessica Casperson of Flora Vista, N.M., and Julia McKay of Albuquerque; sister Mary Ophelia Gurule of Pagosa Springs; brother, Joe Gonzales, of Billings, Mont.; 14 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Dec. 8, 2011, at Cope Memorial Chapel, 405 S. Main Ave., in Aztec. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at Rose of Sharon Church in Flora Vista.
